How USHCN Messed With Texas

The thermometer data for Texas shows a cooling trend, which USHCN has hidden. The way they did it was by progressively subtracting larger and larger amounts from older temperature data. The year 1920 had 1.8 degrees subtracted from the average value which the thermometers read.

This is a pattern which we have seen over and over again. Without the USHCN alterations to the temperature data, the US would show no warming.

When Mother Nature refuses to warm the planet sufficiently, government scientists can be counted on to fix the temperature data to produce an adequate warming signal. It has always struck me as extraordinarily convenient that the frequent temperature adjustments always produce a global warming trend. Yet, despite all the quick-and-dirty data trickery, the temperature trend has remained flat since the late 1990s and is beginning to show a slight decline. What would happened to the trend line if the climate sorcerers at NASA and NOAA included a credible adjustment for the urban heat island (UHI) effect?

I don’t understand what the reasoning could be for adjustments to get more extreme, the further back in time you go. An honest approach would be to give a confidence interval and allow that to expand into the past (there were less stations and it would seem harder to verify the quality of a station of 90 years ago vs. 30). It’s more of the same. Agenda first, honesty second.
