Intervention Required : To End The Stupidization Of America

“A large majority of Americans believe that global warming made several high profile extreme weather events worse, including the unusually warm winter of December 2011 and January 2012 (72%), record high summer temperatures in the U.S. in 2011 (70%), the drought in Texas and Oklahoma in 2011 (69%), record snowfall in the U.S. in 2010 and 2011 (61%), the Mississippi River floods in the spring of 2011 (63%), and Hurricane Irene (59%).”

Bob Burnett: Global Climate Change: Intervention Required

Global warming causes warm winters and cold winters – and apparently causes the record low number of hurricanes we have been having in recent years.

I wonder what caused this hurricane? I wonder when Americans became so ignorant of their history?

Trying to reason with or explain the facts to Warmists is an exercise in futility. They refuse to listen to any argument, no matter how reasoned, that contradicts their superstitious belief structure. Any person who dares question the global warming dogma is a blasphemer — destined to suffer eternal damnation for his sins against the planet.

It truly is shocking to see otherwise rational adults fall victim to childish global warming scare stories. They are oblivious to the fact that there is no such thing as “consensus” in the world of science. There is only questioning, testing and re-testing — and constant and open skepticism about any hypothesis or theory.

We can only hope that Bob Burnett and his alarmist brethren will eventually wake up to the fact that they’ve been scammed by an extremely clever, self-serving group of scientists turned con-artists.

“The unusually warm winter of December 2011 and January 2012”. I can’t argue with this. The winter of December. When it gets to this level, you no longer can find any arguments.

  3. tckev says:

So from this piece of nonsense, global climate change causes extreme weather events, and the statistics allege that a large number of people *believe* this to be true.
I wonder exactly what were the questions and who assessed the answers.
Done to the very highest statistical standards?

I’m not surprised. Isn’t Berkeley the capital of Cuba?

  5. Andy DC says:

How can a warm winter be worse? Does the word “mild” mean worse? Are lower heating bills and fewer people freezing to death worse?

  6. Jason Calley says:

“Are lower heating bills and fewer people freezing to death worse?”

The blunt answer is “yes.” Or rather the answer is yes, if you are a proponent (and I use that word “proponent” knowingly, instead of simply “believer”) of CAGW. Most people who have been caught up in the CAGW meme imagine that they are good people, that they are helping to save the planet, that they are fighting against evil polluters and helping the wildlife of the Earth. Embracing the CAGW meme allows them to look in the mirror and tell themselves “I make a difference. I am a good person. I refuse to destroy the world.” I know, I know, they ought to look at the facts, study the data, do the math. They ought to wonder how many billions of people would starve if we gave up all fossil fuels — but they won’t! Facing the scientific facts would mean that they would have to give up a very important part of their self image. Its the same reason why Johnny (or Johann, or Jacques or Juan) will march off to the other side of the world to kill people they never even heard of. Give someone a flattering self image and they will do anything to keep it. Ever wonder why the CAGW crowd gets so ANGRY when you disagree with them? You think you are just disagreeing about science, but they think you are telling them they are no good.

Relatively speaking, I’m afraid the bar isn’t very high.

Jason Calley, your last sentence hits the nail right on the head, good point. Confronting the fact that your long held beliefs might be wrong would confirm that you were duped into wasting a lot of time and energy toward something that was never a problem in the first place.

  9. This is an Effect of Those Promoting Global Warming/Climate Change Cherry Picking the Statistics Surrounding localized Events that have very Little effect on Global Temps! Those who have been Duped into believing it just don’t have all the Facts Necessary to make an Informed Decision! I know that While the US had a Mild 2011-2012 Winter Over-all, the rest of the Northern Hemisphere was suffering through a Very Cold Winter! Alaska was hit with Record Cold and Snowfalls, while the sea Ice Blocked Alaskan Coastal Waters Much further South than Normal! It is the Law of Thermal Dynamics and the effects of a Blocking Pattern that kept the Arctic Air trapped far to the North over the Canadian Arctic and over much of Northern Europe! Even the Northern Mediterranean Countries had record Snow and Cold last Winter when the blocking of the usual Arctic Air Transport to the US allowed this ever increasingly COLD Air Mass to work its way much further South over a long enough period to overcome the usual Moderation! As a matter of Fact, Last Winter Globally continued a Recent Trend in Declining Temps!
