Summer 1936 Vs Summer 2012

Steve Keohane made an apples to apples comparison of August, 1936 vs. August 2012, which makes it easier to visualize the depths of depravity which NOAA has sunk to in claiming that this past summer was one of the hottest ever.

    Nice work Steve. 🙂

why are you making things so confusing? When I compare other sources: yes, 1936 was the hottest summer on record. 2012 is claimed to be the 3rd hottest, after 2011 and 1936. August was just “warmer than average” (the difference was made in July). So what do you want to prove?
If you want to compare summers, then compare june-august, not just august. And you can still prove that 1936 is hotter. Everybody happy.

    The horror.. The horror..

Here is July Steven. The one above has an incongruity in the colors in hottest area.
