Fifty Hours Away From The Latest Alaskan Ice Break-Up On Record

Time to prepare a good tweet to Heidi. 🙂
With such a warm spring, those woods are alive with green living things!
Hot damn, we’ve got 34 sunrises until the days start getting shorter again and only 120ish until a complete refreeze:)
Reading the material in the link, the tripod is 300 feet out from shore, and is huge: http://www.nenanaakiceclassic.com/photos.htm
Right now, this is the second latest break-up.
One subtlety here:
’64 was a leap year.
Adds another day.

Good catch. I didn’t see anything on the Nenana link website about an adjustment for this.
Alaska is definitely heating up…….but not from CAGW. 😀

According to a report by a Fairbanks resident, a disheveled man approached the burning Crown Victoria of Nenana police chief Milt Haken, stretched his arms over the hot engine compartment and shouted: “I found it! I knew it was not missing!”
When the police chief and the fire department extinguished the fire the man who gave his name as Kevin ran off and disappeared in the bushes. Chief Haken told the Clarion that no crime has been committed and the police do not plan to look for Kevin.
