Nixon’s visit to China in 1972 opened diplomatic relations between the two nations, while Obama is allowing the US to be indebted to China.
Domestically, Nixon’s administration generally embraced policies that transferred power from Washington to the states. Obama’s been busy taking them back.
Nixon established the Environmental Protection Agency. Obama’s using the regulatory powers of the EPA to shut businesses down.
Both were re-elected by a landslide for their second terms
Both Nixon and Obama tried to get gun laws passed, both failed.
So, if the parallels continue?
Nixon saw the 1973–1974 stock market crash (one of the worst stock market downturns in modern history).
On Yom Kippur (October 6, 1973) Egypt and Syria opened a coordinated surprise attack against Israel.
Nixon’s Vice President resigned on October 10, 1973 (at the time, Agnew was the only Vice President in United States history to resign because of criminal charges).
Both went through (or are going through) a continuing series of revelations about scandals (and other misconduct by members of the administration). The scandal escalated, costing Nixon much of his political support, and on August 9, 1974, he resigned in the face of almost certain impeachment and removal from office.
So if Biden quits, and if Israel gets attacked on Yom Kippur (September 13-14, 2013), and if the stock market crashes by the end of the year – then the circle will be complete.
Um actually there were 2 differences Nixon was born in the USA. Something a pissed off reporter should look into in their spare time.
The parallels are getting stranger, too:

Stay tuned…
Nice posting, thanks.
Good juxtaposition except for the landslide comparison!
Nixon’s 1972 was actually a landslide, electoral and popular. Dumbo just eked this one out.
Both have the middle name ‘Millhouse’. 😉
There is a second difference. No one died from Nixon’s blunders.
