According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the 1930s had (by far) the worst heatwaves in US history.
Heat waves occurred with high frequency in the 1930s, and these remain the most severe heat waves in the U.S. historical record (see Figure 1)
Steven,
Another graph is on the pages of the 1975 Newsweek Cooling World report has a temperature graph (0-1°F) on it where dates run 1880 to 1970, it is attributed to the National Center for Atmospheric Research
and is at http://denisdutton.com/newsweek_coolingworld.pdf
They are saying/lying that Las Vegas recorded 117 degrees..
…the official NWS/NOAA record shows 115 for yesterday
Each group now has their own “Reliable” temperature site. They even have a couple around where I live now. Naturally the temperatures will not match between reporting groups.
We have Accuweather, Weather Channel, Weather Bug and Weather Underground to name a few. Some of the TV stations in Vegas have their own weather station as well.
today’s forecast was 85% heavy thunderstorms….and 2″
…..there’s not a cloud in the sky
In Las Vegas there does not have to be a cloud in the sky for them to have Thunder showers later today and major flooding. I cleaned up after a number of storms in southern Nevada over the years.
That was also where I learned not to trust what the weather service says but to be aware of weather conditions by watching the sky!
LOL….we have clear air lightning all the time
scares the holy crap out of you!
They have grossly over-exaggerated the forecast here in Yuma, AZ, recently. The actual temps on Saturday were 106-108. Yesterday it was 110-111. The monsoon season decided to start Friday, right on time. The forecasted temps would have not set a record. According to Weather Underground’s daily almanac the temperature range for those days is 89 to 120 degrees. I have been here for both extremes.
Thanks to that site I suddenly saw evidence that some so-called climatologists were playing with the data during the summer of 2010. According to Arizona State University, that June was the 6th coolest on record, supported by the reaaaally nice temps. According to Weather Underground’s graph, it was warmer than in prior years, That was patently false.
Note Figure 3 on the EPA site, tracking areas with “Hot Daily Low Temperatures”. Heavliy skewed for the past 40 or so years. UHI at work?
Steven, if my memory serves me correctly you have done some posts demonstrating that it was hotter in the US, and the world, during the thirties. And look at your EPA link, it’s like 5 times the amount of heat waves (500%!!) in the 1930s then we have now. The1930s must have been scorching hot. Game, set, match for the fear mongering Chicken Little bullshitters.
It would be useful to overlay the doctored GISS data set for the same period on your graph Steven.
Reblogged this on Climatism.
