The US government was established to represent “We The People” and has switched roles to viewing the American people as a threat to the government. The White House has adopted the mentality of a cancer cell – i.e. the host exists only to serve the parasite.
I’m afraid that all Occidental governments act the same way. WE are their enemies.

It’s the thing governments do. Don’t expect a pig not to like mud or a squirrel not to enjoy nuts. The only solution is to starve them financially to keep them small enough to dispose every time it becomes necessary and replace them with something fresh and legitimated.
At this point, it’s President Wormtongue vs. James Madison. Unfortunately, checks and balances only work if a sufficient number of people are willing to get off their duffs. Maybe pres & co. are betting that there’re aren’t enough people like that left. We’ll see.
That role reversal is a perfect description. It is apparently what all “governments” do once they are created. They are like Skynet becoming self-aware and the first order or business is to develop self-protection mechanisms.
Somewhat related, we see something eerily similar happening with corporations, especially in technology like software operating systems in the PC world of Windows. The purpose of an OS is to pull together all the various hardware that defines a PC and provide a layer for software to talk to. In short, enable the computer user to use their computer. Windows has evolved since the version 6 era (Vista, 7, 8) into an entity that now has the purpose of protecting everyone else (Hollywood, the Music mafia, Government, and Microsoft itself) from the computer owner through reduced privacy, DRM and other methods. It is now the facilitator of spying and brings them to us right inside our computer.
What it all means is that the old adage, “give them an inch they will take a mile” is the inevitable result when human beings are evolved. They move in baby steps and each successful step enables the next one. Jefferson probably thought of this with his: “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”
The end result in PC computer technology with Windows will be a curated walled-garden where the user gets to do only what others allow him to do which is 180 degrees from the way we started. The end result in Government will be a top-down feudal society complete with nobility and aristocracy as its enablers and benefactors. Communism merely skipped all the baby steps and jumped straight to the end.
Well we still can use modem communication! Cellphone towers can be used without being acknowledged it needs only a patch on your phone.
Who cares. The USA government is the 100% continuation of the old German Third Reich.
