The rowers are stuck in a cove west of Cape Parry, with several days of strong northwest winds blocking their exit.
The Navy is forecasting that by the middle of next week, multi-year ice will have blown into that region – right up to the coast. If they aren’t out of there by then, they may be stuck for the summer.
I just hope they brought a hacky sack or bongos to keep them ‘occupied’ whilst the poley bears zero in.
Sounds like great idea for a horror movie. And they’ll be singing “I had a little drink about an hour ago” when the Polar Beasts come a knocking on their boat..
Wrong place to be, exciting but wrong place.

at least it’s a tail wind….sorta
I don’t understand the run into the cove. As best I can tell, via Google Earth, there is no possibility of portage, hence they will be have to go back west to exit. Perhaps they entered the cove intending to camp.
The wind pushed them in there.
It’s looking a lot like a dumbass navigation error.
…and now they are hiding from the storm that’s heading right at them
Game, they have been walking the boat for most of their trip. GPS doesn’t show that because they’ve been turning it off, so the tracking doesn’t outline the coast like it would if it were on the whole time….
When they rounded that last point….Steve’s right….the wind blew them in there
They weren’t kidding when they said “pulling together against climate change”…….
They’ve been pulling almost the entire trip
The alarmists have been ‘pulling together’ for decades, what we used to call a circle jerk.
In years to come their children will laugh most heartily. They will sea the Arctic with greater extent and wonder why their parents decided to make fools of themselves.
Typo or maybe not. 🙂
“….They will sea the Arctic with greater extent….”
Ice approaching from the north. Ice blocking the path south. Do you camp in this cove, or try to swing around the top of the peninsula to camp a day or two farther south?

Crash, problem is, they can’t get around that point right now…..wind’s heading right at it
If they aren’t out of there by then, they may be stuck for the summer.
I’m sure they’ll be helicoptered out. But the MSM won’t carry the story. All the people will have heard was the story of them taking off to row the Arctic because climate change caused there to be no ice. An outrage.
No photos of the boat around any ice at all.
They don’t want an image of the boat struggling through ice.
It goes contrary to the whole theme.
They hoped it would all “vanish” as per the warming model.
In their arrogance and delusion, ice could kill them.
I’m sure if there were pictures of ‘ice free’ conditions, we would have seen them, everywhere.
Alarmists survive like leftists, on half truths, and whole lies.
After the NW keeping them in the bay stops, the wind blows strongly from the east making their onward progress beyond the cape somewhat difficult.
They are in Franklin Bay – remember what happened to him?
If the team and managers were more current with pictures and text about the ongoing drama, this could be a real nail biter and evoke a lot of compassion from the public and be at the top of the news.
But as they try to spin a tale and promote the cause with false images, it becomes tedious and boring to watch. My sympathy ebbs away quietly like the tide.
4 more pings… Are they stuck in a whirlpool ?

Last night they stopped in the bay a couple km from shore. Tonight it seems they moved north in the bay a few more km and pulled up on shore. Maybe they got tired of their sailboat rocking.
