July 10 is typically the hottest day of the year on the Greenland ice sheet. It is -12C and snowing right now in the center of the ice sheet. Temperatures have not risen anywhere close to the freezing mark this summer.

The vast majority of the surface of the Greenland ice sheet is at high altitude, because the ice is two miles thick.
