Eric Klinenberg, professor of sociology at New York University wrote an opinion piece in Time magazine recently, pointing out that global energy consumption is soaring. The expectation of air conditioning convenience is spreading to countries where American culture carries influence.
For example, sales of air conditioners rose 20 percent in India and China last year.
Klinenberg says all of this is happening while people simultaneously burn through fossil fuels in ‘suicidal fashion’.
He says it is destroying the environment, and insists regulation is needed because people are likely not going to volunteer to reduce their usage.
By constantly blasting air conditioning to provide immediate relief from soaring temperatures, humankind is ultimately making for hotter long-term temperatures by contributing to global warming.

The question I would ask Eric Klinenberg, who by the way is on public teat when comes to finacial compensation. Is his building and office air conditioned ? Is so,it would appear the self righteous prof. is suffering from the mephistophelian syndrome.
The best response is to shut off the electricity to the NYU, so he can enjoy helping his cause. I think about one year without fossil fuel energy or anything produced with fossil fuel energy would be enough to rid him of his position.

Jogged my memory about a cracker Lars Larson radio interview with crackpot eco-activist Dr. Laurie Johnson of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) who claimed “When you get in your car in summer, your car is hot because it has greenhouse gases in it. That’s why its hot.” !

Imagine Dr Johnson uses striclty palm oil ethanol to power her wheels. She, like her green sustainable eco-friends, understand the Orangutan’s and SE Asian rain-forests don’t have a use for it.

When the on again off again poly-saturated, poly-unsaturated argument first began PETA came down on the side of heart healthy palm oil. That is when the palm oil business got off the ground big time. This was in the middle of PETA’s campaign against butter, lard, and other animal fats. It was PETA who first shot the orangutans in the foot by advocating switching to palm oil. Since then real science has rehabilitated animal fats. But sadly PETA gave the orangutans a gift that keeps on killing, a demand in the West for heart healthy palm oil.

What are they doing?
They exclude or “Mask out” coastal zones when counting ice extent. But on the other hand “they” count coastal zones like river deltas as part of the Arctic Ocean. They also include coastal zones when adding up total Arctic Ocean area. It makes any melting look worse than it is. Remember the argument about where or when the Rowers turned Pushers were or were not in the Beaufort Sea.
Air conditioning in summer is one thing, much worse is heating in winter especially in Alaska so the canary can survive the cold .
