Prosecutors Accuse Zimmerman Of Being Familiar With Florida Law

Prosecutors want to show that Zimmerman aspired to be a police officer and knew about Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which says there is no duty to retreat if one is confronted with potentially lethal force. Prosecutors now plan to introduce evidence about a college criminal justice course the defendant took that included course work on Florida’s self-defense law. The testimony appears aimed at bolstering the state’s claim he was an aggressive, wannabe cop.

Reblogged this on Reality Check and commented:
Ignorance of the law is no excuse… hosers. lol

Part of our “training” in the State of Colorado was to “be familiar with the law” to get our conceal carry permits. Funny how this is suddenly a BAD thing to know. Ignorance of the law, as they say, is no excuse. (Though I could make argument otherwise as well, for instance of Obamacare. After all Congress was certainly ignorant of the law they were passing weren’t they?)

Maybe they should have hired Zimmerman as a consultant. 😉

Carter punched huge holes in the State’s case under cross examination:

#Zimmerman Trial: West: “Don’t have to wait almost dead to self-defense.” Carter: “NO, don’t recommend that.”

Steven, maybe it is different in Colorado, but in Florida, being familiar with Florida law is often considered a serious offense!

    I suspect it’s just a Caribbean thing.

Doing well in class and having career ambitions in law enforcement are clearly characteristics of all terrible people. 😉

    1. they imply that cops are aggressive and violent

    2. If someone is on the ground being attacked, then even in Commiefornia you can use whatever force necessary to stop the attack.

    3. Several commenters have pointed out, knowing the law is a requirement for a CCW

  8. Blade says:

This is because the Florida bureaucracy, whether (D) or (R), is all about preserving their monopoly on power. Zimmerman has challenged their authority by defending himself rather than dialing 911 and waiting for some unionized, affirmative action cop to arrive, or more preferably a state medical examiner to come and draw a chalk outline around his body.

Clearly he deviated from acceptable standards and practices for peasants and servants of the state.
