Rowers Release Another Picture Highlighting Arctic Warming Over The Last 90 Years

“It wasn’t long ago that the Northwest Passage was sole domain of steel-hulled ice-breakers. We hope by making this traverse completely under human power in a row boat, without sail or motor, in a single season we will be able to demonstrate first-hand the profound affects climate change is having on our world.”
– The Arctic Joule team.
“Men are so quick to blame the gods: they say
that we devise their misery. But they
themselves- in their depravity- design
grief greater than the griefs that fate assigns.”
– Homer, The Odyssey
They at least should have took a sail and a small outboard motor in case of an Emergency. Much cheaper than a chopper and with less footprint.

Robert, they’ve had head winds almost all the way…and no room to tack because of the ice (that’s not there)
After a summer like this, I hope those guys are planning to spend the winter in Florida.
The local newspaper is running their story, which they areusing to write themselves up in rather heroic terms.

You would think they would be savvy enough to keep a watch in dangerous waters rather than all the crew taking a nap.
On the other hand they are Big Chuggers of the Glowball Warming Kool Aide so being smart enough to keep a watch is asking too much.
1 little 2 little 3 litlle rowers 4 little 5 litlle…….
UPDATE ON BERNARD EXPLORER crossing from Barrow to Sachs Harbor:
We just had a phone call from Captain Bob, and the news from the boat (BERNARD EXPLORER) is not good. The Bernard Explorer is back in Alaska at Barter Island, just west of the Alaska-Yukon border. They had made it all the way to Pullen Island which is quite close to Tuktoyaktuk. However, the ice was so bad that even after getting that far, they had to go all the way back to avoid being trapped by ice. Even with all the talk of global warming and an ice-free Northwest Passage, now we are hearing that this may be the worst ice year for 10 years! Some things are just not predictable anymore. (including sea ice and warming… lol)

I see they have their conventional power attached via a tow-rope … makes one wonder about that sudden spurt of energy with the GPS turned off and low cloud cover, 😉
