      Arctic sea ice cover was strongly reduced during most of the early Holocene and there appear to have been periods of ice free summers in the central Arctic Ocean.     As far as I can tell, the first 10,900 years were brutal and life was short. Then we started using fossil fuels and our quality of life improved dramatically. I could be wrong, maybe some guy sitting an air conditioned office tying on a computer knows better.

    Let’s hope the rowers don’t actually believe anything that he says or forecasts because they could end up real dead, real fast.

    They have no idea how unforgiving and brutal the Arctic can be, how fast it can kill humans, especially clueless ones with a righteous cause.

    I read his other article where he says “Meteorology 101 shows us this change (reduction) in the temperature differential slows west-to-east winds and jet streams. And as fast jet streams slow, they become much wavier and travel much more north and south”. How does a smaller temperature differential lead to more unstable jet stream? I would figure a larger temperature differential would do this. If there were a smaller differential there would be fewer pressure differences and less energy for storms.
