In high school, we studied the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. I didn’t realize at the time that it was the blueprint for America’s political, economic and social future.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It’s not just the US. The West is in a lot of trouble.
Correct. In terminal decline.
From what I have studied, I agree that the Western economies and societies are in trouble. After reading Strauss and Howe’s Fourth Turning, it is clear we are in the Crisis turning where major societal changes and conflicts happen. The CAGW myth is just another excuse for tyranny. Spying on everybody, stealing everyone’s savings and houses. destroying small business through red and green tape, exporting jobs to lowest paid workers, taxing the crap out of people so we remain slaves to government and banks. If this is what government service means, we should be sacking our public servants because they are not serving us at all. Parasites like Hansen, Gore et al are even less worthy of any attention. And Obama just pissed off the entire Latin American continent. Excellent Effort for someone who won the Presidency with the Latin vote.
Andy,
CAGW is an excuse for spying on everybody and becoming slaves to banks? What will happen to us if we believe in gravity?
Apologies! Didn’t know you were ocularly challenged.
Andy,
I am sorry, I thought you wrote this: “The CAGW myth is just another excuse for tyranny. Spying on everybody, stealing everyone’s savings and houses. destroying small business through red and green tape, exporting jobs to lowest paid workers, taxing the crap out of people so we remain slaves to government and banks.”
Apparently in was someone else who thinks that CAGW will cause an epidemic of spying.
It gets used by people with corrupt agendas, but so does every fad of this type.
Mr T, you just don’t understand the first thing about Conspiracy Theory, do you? The world we live in is ruled by the central banks (who print all our money), the military industrialists (who spend it) and the fossil fuel industry ( who sell them the power they require). So obviously, the people behind it all are the gol durn climatologists!
It’s a climatological plot.

Helluva heat wave out west….
Steve – it’s the blueprint for all empires. They all rise. They all fall. Even the USA. Even, dare I say it, Manchester United.
This time it can’t be blamed on the Roman Catholic Church.
When Rome open its boarders to the Visigoths it was the begining of the end.
Not at all. If Rome had kept the Visigoths out, the end would have come sooner, at the hands of Attila.
I wonder if T.O.O. every heard of Smart Meters and Agenda 21.

One can observe gravity, it does not require faith like CAGW.
Where can I observe CAGW outside of an alarmist model? 😆
The difference is that in our world the barbarians are deader than we are.
In chapter 4 of her book The God of the Machine (1943), Isabel Paterson discussed the rise and fall of Rome and its lessons for our time.
See also Ludwig von Mises’s masterwork Human Action (1949). Chapter 30, section 2 includes a discussion of the fall of Rome from an economic point of view. Mises observed “The compulsion and coercion to which [the emperors] resorted could not reverse the trend toward social disintegration which, on the contrary, was caused precisely by too much compulsion and coercion.”
