The clouds have finally cleared, and the movement of the ice over the last four days is now visible. The ice has pushed towards the shore, and is completely impassable in a small boat.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Reggie,
I strongly suggest that you obtain legal counsel before advising the rowers to attempt to navigate through narrow openings in rapidly shifting pack ice. That is a really good way to get them killed.
I strongly suggest you get help for your obvious psychological problems.
In one of my favorite Dilbert cartoons, Dogbert says “There’s really no point listening to other people. They’re either going to be agreeing with you or saying stupid stuff.” That seems to be Reggie’s position.
Reggie, did you bother to zoom out one click to see the blockage or is this a pure propaganda post by you?
Time for the rowing teams plan B. Get that rowboat up onto the ice pack and start dragging it to Greenland. Time is a wasting! Plan C is to row back to the start but the river is too strong. Hmmm ……should have thought this one through a bit more. Plan D is choppers. Da da da daaah da, da da da daaah da….. (Apocalypse Now)
what am I missing?
…I see the same thing on Reggie’s link
I see, that’s why their progress is so spectacular:)
Team Twisted are taking the beating of a lifetime and their sponsors must be proud-:)
Regg,
If you look at the link you posted and click on 13, then 14th, then 15th you can see the ice being blown ashore. The 15th also has clouds so harder to see. What is your point by posting the link?
If they could not row in the past week or few days, WHY would you say “completely blocked?” as if they could somehow now row? You do seem to be an idiotic troll.
it would be better for them if there was solid ice. The ~40% stuff you can’t barge your way through and you can’t walk on it. I was stuck for a week dealing with that kind of ice. Decided to just wait for a wind shift
That may be what they are doing. They still have about 60 days until the total ice area in the arctic reaches its annual minimum extent.
A few ice cubes will be no problem for these “seasoned adventurers”…
It’s still blowing at 15KNs ………..
What? You mean to tell me these morons designed a ROW boat from scratch….a boat designed for them to ROW….
…and they can’t even ROW it in 17 mile per hours winds!!!! knowing they are going to the Arctic!!!
The aerodynamic design of that rowboat is completely illogical. The forward cabin is narrow and streamlined against a headwind. In a headwind the rear cabin is wide, square and flat – about as streamlined as a barn door! The windage must be terrible.
worse than that!
It’s a flat bottom, and has no keel, it won’t track…..the wind can blow it all over the place
…and
most of the boat is sitting out of the water, like a big sail
Who in their right mind would design something like that, for the Arctic, for rowing
A keel would not be a good idea when running through ice or a cross wind. A millenium of kayak design proves that
Also a keel wouldn’t be able to get through the shallow waters in the MacKenzie river delta.
The right thing for our adventurers to do is to return to Tuktoyaktuk and while away the days in the Hard Rock Cafe until the wind shifts.

I think the hotel no longer exists. We saw it from the outside, it made an impression ruined (if under 2 meters of snow recognizable). According to my information there is in Tuktoyaktuk currently no hotels or restaurants. There is a B & B (Smitty’s B & B).
🙂
Around midnight the winds are forecast to shift around to the NE at 6 mph. May push ice in behind them and block any retreat.
Hilarious! Lucky they’ve been getting plenty of sound adv-ice ;p
