Spain says it and other European countries were told that the NSAwhistleblower Edward Snowden was on board the Bolivian presidential plane that was diverted to Austria this week, causing a diplomatic row.
The foreign minister, José Manuel García-Margallo, said on Spanish National Television on Friday that “they told us that the information was clear, that he was inside“.
The minister did not say who supplied the information and declined to say whether he had been in contact with the United States. But he said European countries’ reactions were based on this information.
The Bolivian president, Evo Morales, claims the US pressured European countries to deny the plane flyover permission on Tuesday on suspicion that Snowden was using the flight as part of his bid to seek asylum.

What an interesting situation would ensue if the next time Air Force One crosses over Europe, overflight rights would be revoked and Austrian police would decide they want to search the plane to arrest potential employees of the NSA suspected of breaking hacking laws.
The President of Bolivia has sovereign immunity. It makes NO DAMN DIFFERENCE whether Snowden was on the plane or not.
Well – to non-imperial emperors it does not make a difference.
He does but that doesn’t make the plane fly without fuel.
You can rest assured that egotistical, bumbling bureaucrats will continue to “shoot themselves in the foot.”
That is the way our universe works.

The seeds of destruction were planted and nurtured long before 1945. The deceit has been going on throughout human history. The scientific deceit has certainly been going on since Aristotle, who pretended to a great deal of knowledge he didn’t have (he was fundamentally a master of rhetoric, not science) and who stopped the rise of true science for nearly 2,000 years. The modern scientific deceit has been going on since Darwin (also a determined rhetorician, just like Aristotle, relying on a plethora of smooth argument rather than actually sound logic).
