Peter Wadhams says that the Arctic will be ice-free in two years.
Ice-free Arctic in two years heralds methane catastrophe – scientist | Environment | guardian.co.uk
This is a wonderful reprieve for the Arctic, which was originally slated for death before the year 2013.
BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Arctic summers ice-free ‘by 2013’
There seems to be plenty of ice in the Arctic, but I lack the government credentials required to determine if the emperor is clothed.
Meanwhile with over 2/3 of the melt season behind us, here is the state of the Beaufort Sea at about 74.5N 142W. About 685 km. NW of the current position of the rowers.

Steve, have a heart, after all the difference between 2013 and 2015 is only two minutes and he didn’t say whether it was GMT, EST or what so there’s plenty of time left. May speak to you tomorrow?
And. It’s still supposed be be ice free by 2020, 2060 or 2080.
Depending on all the other faux projections. 🙂
Under the “wouldn’t you know it” column:
Noticing that Nafeez Ahmed (the author of the Guardian article linked to here) has a “Dr.” prefixed to his name, I was curious as to what he had gotten his doctorate in. According to his Wikipedia article, it was in international relations. (!!) So our friend is another member of the CCCP (that’s Coalition of Climate Change Poseurs).
To be honest, Peter Wadhams actually said this in 2007: “…In the end, it will just melt away quite suddenly. It might not be as early as 2013 but it will be soon, much earlier than 2040…”
So his 2007 goalpost was in the 2013-2040 time frame. His current goalpost now makes a prediction of “ice free Septembers” starting in 2015: “…Given present trends in extent and thickness, the ice in September will be gone in a very short while, perhaps by 2015. In subsequent years, the ice-free window will widen, to 2-3 months, then 4-5 months etc, and the trends suggest that within 20 years time we may have six ice-free months per year…”
He doesn’t say which six months, though.
It was nice of him to quote a great scientist, though: “…A very great physicist, Richard Feynmann [sic], said that when a model comes up against measurements that contradict it, it is the measurements that must be preferred and the model must be abandoned or changed…”
In 2015, maybe he’ll be forced to abandon or change his model.
This Peter Wadhams is not a very smart guy. In order to get money from the CAGW bandwagon you have to predict scaremongering things. In 2000 the climate fraud dr. David Viner from the University of East Anglia made the headlines telling that snowfalls were now just a thing of the past. Children just wouldn’t know what snow was.
http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snowfalls-are-now-just-a-thing-of-the-past-724017.html
This David Viner is a very stupid man, he can’t show his face in public now without people calling him a liar (what he certainly is). Smart people have found a way to avoid this embarrisment. In the Austrian magazin Der Standard a “study” is published, called Climate Change makes buffalo’s smaller. http://derstandard.at/1371170272755/Klimawandel-macht-Bisons-kleiner The authors have made a model that predicts that climate change makes the world warmer and that means the buffalo’s will get less protein. In 50 years time the buffalo’s will therefore be smaller and lighter in weight.
Professor Fritz Vahrenholt from http://www.kaltesonne.de explains how smart these people are.
Their story is BS, but they get paid a lot of money for it from the government. And in 2063 nobody will remember their bogus “study”. And even when somebody like Steven Goddard finds their BS “study” in the archives, and draws the attention to it, the authors will be pensioners or dead. So my advice to these crooks is: predict the most terrible things, the more terrible the more money you will get. But keep your eye on the time frame. If you are quite young, predict this all will happen in 50 years time from now. If you are a bit older, predict the end of the world as we know it to happen in 30 to 40 years from now. Be sure you are at least retired before the moment comes that everyone can see that you were a liar and it was all a load of BS.
Reblogged this on The Firewall.
Wadham’s credentials need to be re-examined … and he needs to attend counselling, maybe shock treatment would help.
“Temperature Changes in Alaska”
Anybody like to comment on which way the the 5-year moving average is heading?
http://climate.gi.alaska.edu/ClimTrends/Change/TempChange.html
“The figure at right shows clearly that this trend is non-linear: a linear trend might have been expected from the fairly steady observed increase of CO2 during this time period……”
…..The stepwise shift appearing in the temperature data in 1976 corresponds to a phase shift of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation from a negative phase to a positive phase….”
