Well as of course you all know we don’t get Hurricanes here in the UK -why even the October Storm of 87 wasn’t actually a Hurricane; I think there possibly was nearly one at the start of the 18th century that startled Defoe and I don’t mean the Spurs player. Anyhow we don’t get them, but we do have what you are getting now and that is record landfall hyperbole. The UK Meteorological Office the last two decades has gone nuts on AGW with half its website dedicated to incessant uses of ‘could’ or ‘might’ when it comes to stupid climate warning. In fact every forecast practically has a weather warning take last Saturday week for example. UKMO put half the country under a yellow ‘beware’ warning and I can only assume beware of getting wet. really it was pathetic. Years ago before AGW it would have been called a very wet Saturday and that would be it, but now it is a dangerous life threatening torrent and further evidence of ‘dangerous climate change..
It also has to be said that here in the UK once sensible H&S has now become an industry fermented by lefty green loons and businesses who want to make lots of money by saving us from dragons that don’t actually exist.
Finally and back to UKMO: they do a side line where one government dept. pays another government dept. with of course tax payers money and in this case it’s the National Health Service who pays UKMO to issue health related health warnings. A good one is every winter UKMO dribbles on about COPD which is a very small issue indeed especially when compared to the outrages in the NHS were patients and especially the elderly have been killed with wilful neglect in many NHS hospitals http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2013/07/14/nhs-death-toll-ten-times-worse-than-you-thought and that is without the MRSA deaths which amount to tens of thousands.
