R.de Haan —– Thanks much for the references. I was familiar with and appreciate Joe Bastardi, but I was completely unfamiliar with the German/European Institute.
I believe much of Europe has gone through phases of climate politics and is coming to the realization (through some bad choices) that greenhouse gas causes of climate change is a non problem. Here in the United States we thankfully have not implemented as many foolish changes (although our elected leaders are certainly trying) and hopefully we can learn from our Neighbors on the other side of the Atlantic.
Yes they probably will blame it on missing sea ice. The north pole lis like a big bowl with the arctic ocean more or less encircled by land. So the ice first has to be missing before it can grow back.

You will b blamed for the increase in sea ice this year. It is all because of your Cherry Picking! If you had not been Picking at the warmists the Ice would have done just what they wanted it to do, no matter how much they had to adjust the results to fit the desired conclusion.:)
