But where did all that cold go? To the depths of the oceans?

    • Gail Combs says:

      The sun came back….
See Jo Nova’s Hubby, Dr Evans’ Notch-Delay Solar Theory

: New solar theory predicts imminent global cooling. There are three big drops in solar radiation in the 400 years of records. The first, in the 1600s, led to the Maunder Minimum, the coldest time in the last 400 years. The second in Napoleon’s time, led to the Dalton Minimum, the second coldest time in the last 400 years. The third started in 2004, but hasn’t led to cooling…yet. The notch-delay theory says that the fall in TSI signals a fall in force X which acts after a delay, which seems to be 11 years. So the fall will occur in 2004 + 11 = 2015. But the delay is tied to the solar cycle length, currently 13 years, so the cooling is more likely to start in 2004 + 13 = 2017. The cooling will be at least 0.2°C, maybe 0.5°C, enough to undo global warming back to the 1950s. The carbon dioxide and ND solar theories have been in agreement over the least century due to generally rising carbon dioxide and solar radiation, but now they sharply diverge. Only one of them can be correct, and soon we’ll know which one. Here’s the criterion: A fall of at least 0.1°C (on a 1-year smoothed basis) in global average surface air temperature over the next decade. If the criterion does not occur then the ND solar theory is rubbish and should be thrown away. If it does occur then the carbon dioxide theory is rubbish, and should be thrown away.

      • tom0mason says:

The sun came back on to full just as the world switched to the clean air acts everywhere, thus ensuring nice clear skys for maximum solar warming effect.

        • tom0mason says:

IMO the take-up of Clean Air Mandates worldwide is what ensured that from the late 1980s the atmospheric temperatures rose, especially in Westernized and industrialize countries. The industrial countries have cleared their skys, and so these areas are now warmer than in prvious decades.

      • darrylb says:

Are we allowed to place bets? Only a decade to wait.

    • What global warming since the 1950s?!

  2. skeohane says:

Hell, we were taught to duck and cover, never look at the flash. Think that was 3rd grade. By 7th, we had a practice fallout shelter weekend, camping in the school hallway, bringing in air with a bicycle running a pump 24 hours a day. The coming ice age didn’t seem that imminent.

    • Gail Combs says:

Sounds familiar. The coming ice age was something for politicians and our children’s great great great grandkids to worry about.

The idea of abrupt climate change has surfaced only since Dr. Alley’s research ~ 2000.

    • darrylb says:

Partly because of my civilian background, I became a senior NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) instructor in the military, That is what the threat is and how to defend or protect against it.
As such, one learns about could be much more ominous than what is understood today.
Actually in the case of a nuclear threat, what one should do is lean over, put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.

      • Gail Combs says:

At least nuclear would be quick if you are the target. (NC is not quite far enough away from DC) biological and chemical not so much.

        • darrylb says:

Biological is the most ominous and has by far the greatest chance of covert delivery.
—U.S. doctrine: We will use nuclear or chemical only in an in kind response to an attack. We will never use bio under any conditions, ever.
Bio labs (Atlanta has one) are there only for analysis of a possible threat.

    • John F. Hultquist says:

A classmate in those grades in the mid-50s was truly worried. I had read about the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and even at that young age explained to her that SAC would protect us. She was much relieved and offered that I could help repaint her bicycle – pink.

    Roll up, roll up!

Send your kids to Antarctica to save the ice! Dr Chris Turney promises not to get stuck this year.

  4. Andy Oz says:

    LMAO.
Now I know why I “turned to drugs” in the 80’s. It was the imminent Ice Age!

  5. darrylb says:

After Active duty, I started teaching in the 68-69 school year. I must have been completely out of it because at that time I did not hear of the coming ice age.
Then again I was single so my mind was elsewhere.

  6. Eric Simpson says:

This constant effort of the fear mongering doomsayers to try to scare children is absolutely shameful, despicable. Here a take on the infamous warmist video with the exploding heads:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDdkzjfUnJQ

    • Jason Calley says:

This 10:10 video is one of the most extraordinary own-goals of modern propaganda. Want to convince sceptics that CAGW is a threat? Just show CAGW enthusiasts murdering school children. That’ll convince them that CAGW is real!

What could possibly go wrong with that approach? And how on earth could they have thought that was a good idea? What does that say about them?

      • Gail Combs says:

They hate humans and they want complete control of you, Slavery comes to mind.

      • Eric Simpson says:

They said it was “humor.” Just light humor blowing kids and adult to bloody smithereens. But as Gail says, they hate humans, and think there are too many of us anyway. To kill humans and take out skeptics at the same time? It’s two birds with one stone. And they all get a great laugh to see their political opponents or their children turned into a bloody mess.

  7. emsnews says:

That would make a good ebola commercial. 🙁
