Today’s Biggest Lie From The New York Times

Droughts appear to be intensifying over much of the West and Southwest as a result of global warming. Over the past decade, droughts in some regions have rivaled the epic dry spells of the 1930s and 1950s. About 33 percent of the contiguous United States was in at least a moderate drought as of September 2.

Mapping the Spread of Drought Across the U.S. – NYTimes.com

Complete bullshit. Only about 10% of the US is experiencing drought (i.e. less than normal) and the droughts are nothing like the 1930’s and 1950’s

As always, the New York Times is lying to their readers about climate. They are a propaganda branch of the White House, not a news organization.

  1. When I tried to comment on this article I found that one needed to set up a NYT account to do that. In my view that would be giving them too much repect.

    • Gail Combs says:

It also gives them too much information.

    • Andrew Wielawski says:

Even if you do, they still won’t print a contrary opinion. I did, when my sister sent them an article called My Solution to the Driving Problem; Vandalism. They printed it even though its premise wasn’t true. Within the article, she claimed to have disabled a car’s battery by removing parts of it and putting them in her pocket. Really! When I tried to post a comment, a very civil one at that, their ‘moderator’ declined to print it. All 56 comments were by readers absolutely thrilled by with article.

The Palmer Drought Index is another of NOAA’s example of slipshod work. My area of North Carolina is listed as Mid-range. Yet, in the last 90 days Actual Rainfall: 21.78″ Normal Rainfall: 13.07″. An excess of 8.71″ or 67% increase is considered normal and mid-range by NOAA…..

Is any data offered by officials of this government NOT bogus???

Here in Puget sound it’s similar…. 32 inches in 2014 vs 22 typical

nearly everything reported about us is faked.

Heard there was a massive blizzard in Boston. Called my brother who lives there, to see if he was all right, and he told me there wasn’t even any snow.

Each day must be a new challenge: How to publish a bigger lie today than yesterday?

  5. tom0mason says:

If all the good people of the West and Southwest could please write their emails and letters of protest about the lack of drought in their region, and forward them to the NYTimes and their elected representatives.
    Thank-you.

  6. A question worth asking, “Is it OK to tell lies to save the Planet?”

  7. Note the weasel words “appear to be.” It’s another maybe paper.

    Appear to whom?

I think we know the next dataset to undergo revision now.

OT but I thought some here may enjoy this composition. Turn your volume up.
Wyman Meinzer is the photographer. He once lived in the old jail in Benjamin, TX. The photo of the coiled rattlesnake appeared on the cover of a wildlife magazine in the 80s. He said there were times he crawled a long way on his belly to get a good shot of a wild animal. And the music is perfect. It was a pleasure to see so many living deer with such amazing antlers.

The music is by Doug Smith. Doug is from Petersburg, Texas. Doug plays by ear – He cannot read music. A pickup accident left Doug paralyzed, but fortunately he has learned to play again. Most of the pictures were taken in West Texas in the rolling plains (Caprock to Seymour), the Fork, 6666, and Waggoner Ranches. There are some scenes in Palo Duro Canyon .

Let’s not forget the 200-year droughts of roughly 900 AD and 1200 AD. You know, back when CO2 was 270 ppm or whatever.

  12. darrylb says:

Ever hear of the group, ‘Minnesotans for global warming’? You probably know their terrific little song regarding Michael Mann and the hockey stick. I am from MN, but I do not know who they are. I would like to find out.— and meet them.
We are expecting snow tonight, boy the summer went by fast.
Gail, you are a walking encyclopedia (at least on some subjects)

Steve/Tony —- Thanks again for the info. It gives me and I am sure many others ammo.

Incidentally, If you do not already have one, I am sure you might like the shirt which I have worn which gets a lot of reaction– mostly positive
