In order to get closer to zero emissions Scenario C, Gavin had to alter the baseline a couple of years ago.
At the Senate hearings in 1988, James Hansen described the top line Scenario A as “Business as Usual” and Scenario C as “draconian emission cuts”
i.e. Gavin had to further tamper with the data to get close to the zero emissions scenario.
Progressives like Barack Obama say that you are incredibly stupid if you don’t believe that CO2 non-warming threatens humanity. Scientific American says that warming is occurring faster than expected.
Is Global Warming Happening Faster Than Expected?: Scientific American
Do these emissions make my scenario look false? 😉
Don’t slouch or exhale and you’ll look great.
(un)Scientific (un)America… it still has some really great papers and articles but I gave up on it years ago when the Editor In Chief started using it as a propaganda rag – Marxist redistributionist claptrap as Econ, AGW as ‘proven’ science, Ehrlich’s misanthropy disguised as science, etc. Too bad. I really like it way back before that.
I really liked Scientific American and National Geographic as a kid but as you say they are nothing more than sciency sounding propaganda rags now. Unfortunately Science Fiction has also gone that route to a large extent.
Same here. Cancelled a few years ago. The anti-science just got too overwhelming. The worst part is I honestly think they don’t even believe they have any biases. Rigor is practically a forgotten word.
I hope you’re aware of Larry Correia, not quite sci-fi I suppose.
In a probably futile attempt to contribute something permanently worthwhile to the discussion, I wrote a short summary of Hansen 1988 and the claims about it on SkS, which probably no one will ever read. To be fair to my subject, I raised these points on SkS and (as you can probably imagine) no relevant objections emerged from the cloud of obfuscation and vitriol. Feel free to add any comments or criticisms, I’ll try to add more information over time.
