NCDC doesn’t actually have any idea what the temperature is near the poles, but that doesn’t stop them from making fake claims about “hottest year ever.”

Jo Nova http://joannenova.com.au/2014/12/satellites-show-2014-was-not-the-hottest-ever-spring-or-winter-or-summer-or-autumn-in-australia/ shows the UAH data for Australia obtained from John Christy. Every season this year has been cooler than those of 2005 and yet Australia has had its record warmest year.

If you look at the red areas, they are mostly in sparsely populated areas with 200km between stations. The records from these stations are very poor eg. Warburton Airfield.http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/ncc/cdio/weatherData/av?p_display_type=dataGraph&p_stn_num=013011&p_nccObsCode=36&p_month=13
