Experts say that ice is rapidly disappearing on the Great Lakes due to global warming, and will soon disappear forever.
Lake Superior has increased water temperatures and an earlier onset of summer stratification by about two weeks in just the past 30 years. Within another 30 years Lake Superior may be mostly ice-free in a typical winter.

Shippers are crying for more ice breakers because the season is so short. Don’t listen to fake scientists, listen to the people who make a living off the lakes.
I cross the Straits of Mackinac every weekday and it is 70% ice covered. With warm temps today and chance of rain that per cent should decrease.
Bitterly cold winters are killing moose and deer in Northern Michigan (Upper Peninsula), but global warming is the biggest long-term threat if they survive the bitter cold according to the AP.
CO2, the God Particle, it can do anything.
Hopefully this year, it will be ice free by the 4rh of July!

Yeah, the maximum-density point of water is changing with the freezing point. Warm water is now denser than cold water. Who knew?
