The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss

Jerry Brown says that evil global warming deniers are keeping rain from falling in California, through their wicked thoughts.

Forty years ago, he said that the drought was a “disaster of immeasurable magnitude.” That drought was blamed by the National Academy of Sciences on global cooling and the coming ice age.

I felt bad about my low PDO thoughts causing the drought, so I started thinking about El Nino instead. And now California is about to get slammed by a series of heavy precipitation events.

We climate deniers have powerful thoughts. They shouldn’t mess with us.

This former liberal supporter of Jerry Brown is embarrassed.

    • nigelf says:

You’re not alone Omanuel, my younger selfish self voted liberal too, then the brain kicked in as I aged.

    • omanuel says:

Actually, he is not to blame. Republicans and Democrats alike believe the fairy tales from well-funded “scientists” at Stanford and Cal- Tech’s JPL Laboratory Pasadena.

I have relatives in the San Diego area that still believe Moonbeam’s communist propaganda. They are not to blame, either.

In the early 1960’s, I was a student in the physics department at UC Berkeley when Moonbeam’s daddy defeated Richard M. Nixon for governor. Mr Nixon recovered his political career to become President of the United States and the traitor that abolished’s Kemnedy’s Apollo Space program to gain favor with the USSR and China in 1972.

Federal research funds have since elevated Stanford and Cal Tech into effective spokepieces for consensus “science,” i.e., government propaganda disgused as science.

  2. Ron Clutz says:

“Annual precipitation tends to be higher (lower) during warm (cold) IPO phases such as 1924–1945 and 1977–1998 (1946–1976 and 1999–2012) over southwestern North America, northern India, and central Argentina,”

Living on our water world means our temperatures and precipitation fluctuate according to ocean circulations and oscillations, especially ENSO and IPO patterns in the Pacific basin.

Shocked, shocked that arid climate has little rain

  4. Hugh K says:

I never imagined I would miss the good ol’ days when climate disruption was blamed simply on Dick Cheney’s hurricane machine.
But I don’t blame governor moonbeam….I blame the easily ‘grubered’ that elected him.

Bastardi, had a good summary on some of this yesterday.

And now time to blame the witches!
Humanity just doesn’t advance at all does it? Thousands of years go by and nothing actually changes.

  7. omanuel says:

Scientists and religionists contribute to society as long as they keep their egos in check by remembering they are in physical and spiritual kindergarten.

“To know that you don’t know is best.
To pretend to know what you do not know

  8. Lance says:

You mean to tell me that the PDO has an impact on Climate? I thought all this time CO2 ruled the world!!

  9. Tab Numlock says:

De-socialize water and you’ll have all you want. Just as when Carter removed Nixon’s price controls on oil and the “energy crisis” disappeared over night. Then get the enviro-loons out of the way of new water projects. I’d like to see and offshore, submerged aqueduct from the mouth of the Columbia River to SoCal and the Baja. Fresh water floats so you’d just have to anchor it to the seabed.

Many years ago, I conceived an aqueduct across the shallow, 90 mile wide Torres Strait connecting New Guinea and Australia. I calculated it could supply 300 million people. There actually are proposals to build one from Tasmania.

There have long been plans to drain the Great Lakes to the SW rather than through the St Lawrence River. Some involve capturing the waters of James Bay. Niagara Falls would go away tho. Maybe replace it with a man-made waterfall and water park that uses a tiny fraction of the water.

Whites don’t seem to have the nerve to build such projects anymore. Maybe the Chinese will do it when they take over. They already have our Panama Canal.

  10. I lived in Santa Barbara during the last major drought in 1978 when the told us not to flush our toilets. The said over the radio:

If it’s yellow let it mellow
If it’s brown flush it down

Joe Bastardi’s Saturday summary is about this very subject. He says that it will get a little better for CA in the coming months but then it’s going to be dry for years: http://www.weatherbell.com/saturday-summary-april-4-2015

  12. Anthony S says:

Low PDO? i think there’s a pill for that.

  13. SMS says:

When Australia went through it’s last drought (Australia is known as the Sunburnt land of drought and flooding rains), Tim Flannery told the Australians that the droughts would be permanent. In response all the major cities built de-sal facilities. Very very expensive de-sal facilities. The state governments didn’t build reservoirs that would have been more economical and practical. Instead they spent Billions on de-sal facilities.

Then the rains came, as they have always done and the reservoirs filled and the de-sal facilities were moth-balled. At a tremendous expense to the tax payer.

Want to see a white elephant? Go to Australia and take a look at a de-sal facility or go to California and look at a wind farm or solar facility. The environmental movement is responsible for numerous, and extremely expensive white elephants.

    • omanuel says:

The people have to take control of government science away from the self-serving US National Academy of Sciences, . . .

a private organization that tells politicians what they want to hear in exchange for control over the budgets of federal research agencies.

That system started soon after WWII ended seventy years ago in 1945. Stalin apparently emerged victorious during a news blackout of critical events AFTER 9 AUG 1945 and BEFORE the UN was formed on 24 OCT 1945.

The public was forbidden information on energy in cores of heavy atoms and stars after Nations were United under totalitarian one-world control:

    Mount Shasta, Calif.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. on Easter Sunday in the Mt. Shasta area, and a winter storm watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
It’s snowing on Easter Sunday, and the National Weather Service forecasts 2 to 4 inches through late this evening, followed by possibly a foot or more from Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.
Wet snow on Easter Sunday may mix with rain below 3,500 later in the day, according to the forecast for Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir and McCloud.
Roads may be wet or slushy below 3,500 feet Sunday, and snow could make travel difficult Sunday evening, including Interstate 5 and Highway 89.
The forecast says snow covered roads are more likely Monday night and into Tuesday, and “Due to an early start to spring… some trees already have leaves. Heavy wet snow may bring down tree limbs and result in local power outages.”

  15. Psalmon says:

People forget that Brown originally tried to stop the filling of New Melones Reservoir and killed the Auburn Dam on the American River. He personally ended storage creation in CA.

    • Jim Schmidt says:

      SINCE 1970:
      * CA population: 97% increase
      * CA Water Storage: 4.4% increase
democrats and their cronies in the Green Gestapo have opposed adding the
water storage required to AVOID the impact of drought, but with record
(illegal) deficits they forced a $160 BILLION Bullet Train to nowhere on the
      state….
“Jerry’s Folly” is an EPIC FAILURE in line with democrats running other failed cities or states in the union into the ground… If you like Detroit, you will LOVE Kalifornia…

  16. Dave N says:

I certainly won’t get fooled again

  17. sfx2020 says:

The NCDC data shows the drought at the time of the article, Mar 1977, was almost the same as the current one. Fascinating.

I wish I could remember the name of the sceptic who, when he was accused of causing the typhoon in the Philipines, told the person who accused him that if he (the accuser) didn’t stop harrassing him (the sceptic) he would make it happen again. I believe the accuser was not heard from again…………… 🙂

  23. Jim Schmidt says:

Back in the day, a popular bumper sticker read “If it’s Brown, flush it”…
Thanks to Moonbeam and the Marxists in the Sacramento Politburo, CA doesn’t have enough water to even do that…

  24. Psalmon says:

CHP has closed I80 and is holding traffic due to “due to multiple collisions and near white out conditions.”

Reservoirs have started filling some more again. Still on track to exceed last year’s storage. Still 370K AF above last year.

No CA Sierra precip will close to within 8 inches of average (42) for the date (about 8″ above last year).
