If Galen is right, as I suspect, the survival of humanity may depend on getting reliable information on nuclear radiation before Earth next starts to cool.
Members of the Geophysics Section of the US National Academy of Sciences and the American Geophysical Union would probably be qualified to address both of the above issues in public, if they wanted to do so.
