“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”
Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.
Longtime global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., citing a recent poll, said in a statement, “Hansen, (former Vice President) Gore and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. But Americans are not buying it.”
But Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., committee chairman, said, “Dr. Hansen was right. Twenty years later, we recognize him as a climate prophet.”

There has been no trend in Arctic sea ice minimum, mean or maximum extent since then.

just wondering why these experts, like James Hansen, never had anything positive to say about increasing levels of CO2. it appears to me that rising levels of CO2 has benefits that far out way the supposed negatives. sure, if you build your Castle one foot above sea level that’s going to be a problem eventually… no different than building luxury homes in a desert climate surrounded by chaparral, which is the best fire kindling in the world.
They also never had anything positive to say about:
Trump,
Putin,
Conservatives
all 100 % pure evil.
It follows a playbook exposed long time ago by a UK MP or even state leader(Sadly forgot who it was).He said something like:
“Whenever we go to war on this planet we declare the enemy the devil,
the absolute evil
and we are the good guys who save the world and innocent.
And this strategy worked so well that England went from war after war
that it became the empire the sun never settles_
The USA adopted this strategy.
And now it is used for AGW.
And this extreme and primitive black&white strategy works especially
well with educated people with college degrees,
who, no matter how obviously biased the reporting is
and how many times the lies are exposed
will follow any narrative.
Hansen is like that guy who thought Guam would tip over from all the people and building on it, except with ice instead.
