Ed Miliband’s ‘reckless obsession’ with renewables leaves consumers with record bills
“according to recent reports, renewable energy is generally considered cheaper than traditional fossil fuels”
Why is it that a single Milibrain(actually it’s 2 of them) can terrorize a whole a nation?
His real name is Milliwatt.
And me stupid thought that Miliwatt is the unit of combined global energy production renewables can generate per year.
Do any of these bozos understand how electricity markets work? Everyone bids in their power sources to the market. Bids are accepted and the highest accepted bid sets the price for all of the power! So it doesn’t matter how cheap the renewables are, unless all of the power accepted is renewable. If you have to use expensive natural gas or LNG to prevent a blackout, then that’s the price everyone gets paid, much to the glee of the renewable merchants.
If the ‘renewables’ are the cheapest source of energy, why do they require subsidies?
It’s the same as with the gender pay gap or Indian experts.
If women were indeed cheaper workers(which is forbidden by law)
everyone would hire female workers and easily destroy the competition
with cheaper products,
just as the whole world would be chasing after Indian coders and engineers and Indian Infosys wouldn’t need to lobby so hard for H1B.
In this case those Indians ain’t prodigies – but cheaper.
This Search Labs:AI seems to have come fully loaded with Gaia religious climate mythology.
Renewable check all the boxes. The only problem is, they can never replace conventional generation.
It appears the cost accounting is as bad as the energy accounting. Ignore the opportunity cost of occupying colossal areas per megawatt produced, compare the maintenance cost of a single windmill with that of an entire power station, ignore construction and decommissioning costs, ignore the cost of a new distribution network, ignore the cost of gas fired back-up power, and yes,’renewables’ look competitive.
