Before Valerie Hussein Jarrett was elected President, Sarah Palin warned that Ukraine would be invaded by Russia, and GWB warned exactly of what happened in Iraq.
Progressives laughed hysterically and told us how smart they are. They also think that 0.0004 mole fraction of an essential trace gas is going to destroy the planet.

“….a status of forces agreement (SOFA) between Iraq and the United States , signed by President George W. Bush in 2008. It established that U.S. combat forces would withdraw from Iraqi cities by June 30, 2009, and all U.S. forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011….”
… and it had been re-negotiated several times during the Bush administration and was due to be re-negotiated again depending on conditions. The Obama administration managed to screw up getting it updated due to incompetence and Obama crowed proudly that HE was responsible for getting our troops out… thereby dooming Iraq’s chance of staying free.
You should tell the whole story, not just the bits that make whatever point you’re trying to make.
Obama doomed the SOFA on purpose. He insisted that the Iraqi Parliament approve it, which was not necessary and he knew would go nowhere.
Obama spiked it. Bob is just a few marbles short of a quart.
Don’t strauß us, Bob …
If you’re going to quote Wikipedia:

“… all U.S. forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011, but allowing for further negotiation if the Iraqi Prime Minister believes Iraq is not stable enough.”

WHAT! How could it be? “Bob-No-Credibility-Whatsoever-Maginnis” is trying to mis-represent the facts again? Surely not?
No, he’s probably factual, at least in this case. But he might be a wee bit too economical.
So only GWB is capable of negotiating and coming up with his own strategy? WOW!
Not to mention that our generals advised Obama to leave 30,000 of our troops in Iraq … a request that he, the narcissist, ignored.
Oh come now, the Smartest President Ever™ don’t need no stinkin’ generals to tell him how to run a conflict. He’s got all the expert advice he needs from that amazing military tactician “Shotgun” Joe Biden along with the Princess of combat strategy, Valerie Jarrett. Or doesn’t Chicago’s South Side count as a war zone? (If not, it should.)
I’d have never sent the troops in. A few small tactical nukes in the right places solves the problem with fewer casualties for us and less cost and gets their attention.
To quote Patton (very poorly): “A poor plan carried out violently is better than a good plan carried out half-assed.” We seem to have poor plans carried out half-assed and achieved very little except young men dying for old men’s wars.
Even if the countries like Iraq, Iran, Syria and Lybia were run by horrible tyrants, at least those tyrants had control of the situation. Once the tyrants were removed, it simply produced adsolute chaos and the rise of even more dangerous Islamic fundamentalism. Removing Sadam was probably a huge mistake, not to mention the cost of lives and billions wasted. To think we could somehow install a peaceful democracy in any of those places was a joke in retrospect.
I see that view all over the place and hear it on the media all the time. The reality is the same view could have been applied to stay out of Europe or Asia before WWII. Or to leave the nascent governments in Germany, Japan, Italy, and elsewhere after the war to their own devices.
Until WWII, how many years in Europe were there when there was not a war between some nations, or within some nations (UK comes to mind)? There was thousands of years of ethnic, religious, or national conflict, and oppression of the people, just like the Middle East. Including conflict with people in the Middle East.
The attempt isn’t the problem. It is the stirring of the pot, then just leaving that is the problem. Germany was a democracy after WWI, and that didn’t work out so well. Which I suspect is why there was things were handled differently after WWII, with an ongoing presence in the former Axis powers that exists to this day. If just leaving a democracy in a war torn country didn’t work with Germany post WWI, why would it be expected to work in the Middle East today?
There have been a series of extremely prominent reasons for people in the Middle East to not support the US. Things like leaving Iraq just for political reasons, and letting all the retribution happen. Planning to do the same in Afghanistan. And don’t forget that Doctor in Pakistan who helped confirm the id of Bin Laden, being left in jail and tortured, without the US doing anything to get him out and out of the country. Or piling on Mubarak, and letting the Muslim Brotherhood come to power rather than supporting our ally. Surely there was a way to get him out without letting the Muslim Brotherhood fill the vacuum.
Wilson’s intervention into WW1 is what we are still paying for today. One interference, one intervention begets another and another and another. It will end when the USA is broke and broken or when the american people stop allowing themselves to be lied and manipulated into one war after another. Looks like it will be the former rather than the later.
So you are saying the we should occupy all those hostile places and somehow impose our will on them until they love us? I don’t think that is wise or practical.
I could be wrong, but I think Obama made certain the MB was welcome at the table, and even encouraged the new regime to work with them.
The decision to go to Iraq was complicated. I read a few books. My favorite was “The Threatening Storm.” However, I was still not in favor of the venture. Bush was well aware of the difficulty of controlling the power vacuum with Saddam gone. I considered the difficulty to great a risk. Bush went in anyway with a far greater coalition then Obama, with his “nuanced” brilliance, could ever muster. And Bush had a plan that (despite my misgivings) by many accounts was succeeding when he left. (Indeed, Obama was trying to take credit for the success.)
A part of me would love to just get out of the middle east period. Yet the threat of Islamic terror is real, and it is not dependent on our presence in the middle east. The hate us as much, or more, then they hate Israel. Anyone who thinks a united Islamic ME would not spread their violent nature to the west, is simply uneducated on the nature of the threat.
The ME polls, post Obama, show greater dislike for the US, and greater support of terrorist activities then during the Bush years, when the numbers supporting Islamism were dropping.
In general it may have been best to simply withdraw from all these nations, providing safe passage to Christians (such detachment would be possible with a wise energy policy) and build a coalition demanding the Arab world reform their religion and leave Israel alone if they wished us to stay our of the ME. (The simple truth is that whatever terrorist organization succeeded in overthrowing Israel, would then first unite the entire Arab peninsula, and move further from there. Israel is a front line defense, weather one wishes to acknowledge this or not.)
It was George Bush who said, “We will stand down when the Iraqis can stand up”.
Obama said, more or less, ” You’re on your own suckas, I’m outa here”
This may be O/T but maybe not. Can you see a Progressive accepting this mission:
http://dailycaller.com/2014/09/11/how-an-american-f-16-pilot-was-given-a-kamikaze-mission-on-sept-11/
Kinda puts things in perspective…
Obama and the democrats spent years disparaging the effort in Iraq. They WANTED failure.
Besides, Obama is too disconnected from the world to accomplish anything meaningful.
I respectfully disagree. He may be disconnected from the true sensibilities of real Americans, but his rather sizeable “accomplishments” hold much meaning and portent. It will take some years to climb out of the economic pit he has created.
The pit was dug by Clinton. Obama just kept digging.
1. Clinton convinced the US Congress to sign the WTO agreement that removed the tariffs that protected US industry and workers from the competition of third world slave shops.
2. Clinton signed the five banking laws that repealed the 1930’s laws passed to prevent another Great Depression, allowed unregulated Credit Default Swaps, and forced banks to give loans to the unqualified.
3. Clinton is the one who thanks to Chinese Bribes (campaign contributions) worked to get China admitted to the WTO and then transfered US technology including US MILITARY technology to China.
All of Clinton’s moves are going to come back and bite the USA HARD:

Gail, re “Clinton signed the five banking laws that repealed the 1930’s laws passed to prevent another Great Depression, allowed unregulated Credit Default Swaps, and forced banks to give loans to the unqualified.”
—————
True, but the repeal of the laws separating investment banks from retail banks was a republican idea, and was their part in this venture of a most avoidable crisis, allowing far greater leveraging of CDS and MBS. Regarding the loans to the unqualified, well this may happen again soon. During Clinton’s years Janet Reno instigated many law suits, and even Obama the attorney got to participate in a red – lining law suit.
I just thought it fair to specify the republican involvement.
Republican idea, democrat implementation and Democrat idea, republican implementation is how team politics is used against the interests of the american people. What happens is that those people who would normally stand against something, don’t when their team implements it. It’s just another facet of this drama, of this manipulation. The ruling class gets their way and that’s that.
Indeed both the Republicans and the Democrats receive the same “assistance”.
Let’s not forget the Clinton “Iraq Liberation Act” of 1998 which called for the removal of Saddam Hussein. Backed up by a unanimous resolution 1441 in the UN. GW Bush was so easy for the left and its media to hate that many things are laid exclusively at his door.
Obama, in his never ending desire to traduce Bush and all the good things he did just pulled out of Iraq intending for it to collapse. When that didn’t come to pass quickly enough he has now indulged in regime change and evicted a democratically elected president, Maliki.

The critical History of War our schools never teach us.
(Sorry it is long but facts need to be laided out so I do not look like a member of the Tinfoil Hat Brigade… now where did I leave my nice shiny hat….)
We, as a country, have been saddled with ‘Theft by Fractional Reserve Banking’ (FRB) for one hundred years. Only a handful of Republicans and Democrats have spoken out against it over all that time. That alone tells you where the loyalty of the Democrats and Republicans really lies. Top Senate Democrat, Dick Durbin even stated it bluntly during the Bank Bailout Betrayal: “And the banks — hard to believe in a time when we’re facing a banking crisis that many of the banks created — are still the most powerful lobby on Capitol Hill. And they frankly own the place.”
War is very very expensive. If Princes and Kings and Presidents use direct taxation to pay for wars, the people rise up in rebellion. (Wars in general use more resources than they acquire so are a really bad investment. As a result, without FRB they would stay small.)
Enter stage left the Central Bankers. By funding wars with loans of worthless fiat currency from banks, princes and presidents can use the hidden taxation of inflation (currency devaluation) to fund their wars and avoid the risk of a rebellious populus.
TIMELINE OF THE SALE OF THE USA INTO SERFDOM
1832
“A disordered [fiat] currency is one of the greatest of evils. It wars against industry, frugality, and economy. And it fosters the evil spirits of extravagance and speculation. Of all the contrivances for cheating the laboring classes of mankind, none has been more effectual than that which deludes them with paper money. This is one of the most effectual of inventions to fertilize the rich man’s field by the sweat of the poor man’s brow. Ordinary tyranny, oppression, excessive taxation: These bear lightly on the happiness of the mass of the community, compared with fraudulent currencies and robberies committed with depreciated paper.” ~ Sen. Daniel Webster, during the debate over the reauthorization of the Second National Bank of the U.S. in 1832
October 15, 1913
On the eve of the passage of the ‘Aldrich bill’ later known as the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 that ushered in the control of the USA by the Banking Cabel.
“Of all the contrivances for cheating the laboring classes of mankind, none is so effectual as that which deludes them with paper money. It is the most perfect expedient ever invented for fertilizing the rich man’s fields by the sweat of the poor man’s brow. Ordinary tyranny, oppression, excessive taxation, these bear lightly on the happiness of the community compared with fraudulent currencies and the robberies committed by depreciated paper. Our own history has recorded enough, and more than enough, of the demoralizing tendency, the injustice and intolerable oppression on the virtuous and well disposed, of a degraded paper currency, authorized by law, or in any way countenanced by Government.” ~ Nelson W. Aldrich, United States Senator, at a New York City dinner speech on October 15, 1913 IV Proceedings of the Academy of Political Science #1, at 38 (Columbia University, New York (1914)).
So Senator Aldrich(R) and others knew darn well what they were about to do to this country and they did it anyway! When the Republicans could not get the original Aldrich bill passed it was renamed the Federal Reserve Act and punted to the Democrats who then got a slightly modified version passed. This is the way politics has worked ever since. The elite direct what laws they want passed and the Republicans and Democrats work together to see the it is done and the he!! with what is good for the nation or the ordinary people.
Also passed in 1913:
The Sixteenth Amendment, February 3, 1913, allows the Congress to levy an income tax without apportioning it among the states or basing it on the United States Census. This amendment exempted income taxes from the constitutional requirements regarding direct taxes.
The Seventeenth Amendment, May 31, 1913, established direct election of United States Senators by popular vote. The amendment supersedes Article I, § 3, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Constitution, under which senators were elected by state legislatures. This removed the ability to control the Federal government from the states.
Once a method for extracting taxes to pay interest on the money the bankers lend the government was in place, the USA left it’s isolationist policy. It entered a new era and became the ‘Policeman of the World’ waging wars at the drop of a hat, all funded by the bankers printed out of thin air paper money. The interest on this paper funny money was paid by the wealth and labor of American citizens forever more. You have not seen the USA debt free since 1913 now have you? You do not see US debt DECREASING do you?
1913 to 1934 — Bankers Consolidate their position and set up wars
NEWSPAPERS BECOME THE INSTRUMENTS OF PROPAGANDA
U.S. Congressional Record February 9, 1917, page 2947
Congressman Charles Lindbergh Sr. led the fight against enactment of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. Short timeline
Lindbergh Sr. accused Wilson of being in cahoots with Jacob Shift, and Paul Warburg, and said the act could be used to “scientifically created depressions”.
April 6, 1917, USA enters WWI
Woodrow Wilson ordered government agents to seize, and destroy, the printing plates for Lindbergh Sr.’s book, “Why Your Country Is at War” (So much for freedom of the press.)
Lindbergh Jr seeing his father’s predictions come true in 1929, become vocal against Roosevelt. Roosevelt stripped Lindberg of his air force commission, refused to let him re-enlist, and sicced the FBI on him.
1932 Lindbergh Jr’s child is kidnapped, ransom is paid, and later the body with a bullet hole in the head is found. A demoralized and demonized Lindbergh Jr did not run for president against FDR.
It is interesting that the anti-communist, anti-war Lindenberghs are labeled Fascist in the banker controlled news. (Clinton’s “Third Way” is just a renaming of Fascism BTW.)
…..
Congressman McFadden on the Federal Reserve Corporation Remarks in Congress, 1934
Because McFadden opposed the central bankers he was driven from office and when he still would not shut up he was fired upon twice and then poisoned. Also note that American bankers financing Japan who savaged China is going to come back and bite the USA and Clinton has given China the weapons needed to wage that war. (China’s One Hundred Years of Humiliation at the hands of the West, is still a festering open wound.)

BTW, I have no argument with the events you list and would go further to include the assassinations of both Kennedy’s too.
Keitho, Thank you for asking that critical question.
Mises gave the simple solution.
QUIT PRINTING MONEY OUT OF NOTHING!
You can read Mises hundreds of pages or read the very condensed version Mises on Money
The apologists for the Fractional Reserve System tell us that if they do not print money the economic system will crash.
They are wrong.
#1. Small business creates more than 60% of the new jobs, employ more than half of the entire U.S. workforce and produces more than 50% of the GDP. Where does small business get it’s start-up money? Small Businesses are Self-Financed Get rid of the dam government red tape and turn loose the entrepreneurs and this country will again be great.
#2. In the 1970s, if there was no inflation and no tax increases my husband and I could have saved enough money on close to minimum wages to buy a house in seven years.
We are like hamsters on a wheel and can not catch up because the money we save is devalued before we have enough to buy a home, a car… The dollar I saved when I first started working is now worth about three cents. The bankers pocketed the other 98 cents and they did it to every single American.
Only when all Americans realize how they have been scammed and that the bankers are ALSO BEHIND Communism/Socialism/the Fabians… will we toss the suckers out and get back control of our country and our wealth.
Thanks, Gail, for sharing your knowledge.
Did bankers (or their superiors) make the decision in 1945 to forbid public knowledge of the energy that destroyed Hiroshima? That decision isolated mankind from reality, truth (God) and eventually to the current global climate scandal. Here’s a one-page sequel to the events (1945-2015) that produced the AGW scandal:

4,804 coalition troops killed in Iraq
3,305 coalition troops killed in Afghanistan
750,000 Iraqi citizens dead, 7,559 Afghani citizens dead
325 military suicides
13 US embassies/consulates attacked (98 deaths)
0 (zero) Republicans in Congress outraged
0 (zero) Congressional hearings investigating Bush and Cheney ignoring direct terrorist warnings
But you are the intelligence experts.
“750,000 Iraqi citizens dead…”
This number has been utterly debunked. The rest appear to be striking comparisons that are not direct relationships or cause and effect at all.
Of course, those Iraqis (for example) killed by jihadists are not the fault of US troops. And they have continued, before we arrived and after we left. And a century ago, and two centuries and so on.
Qutb (among others) established more than half a century ago why Muslims had a duty to destroy the US, and he is a leading light of the Muslim Brotherhood from whom ISIL and Hamas and Fatah and al Qaida and CAIR and Hezbollah all arise. And Muslim Brotherhood imams (like Yusuf al-Qaradawi with his audience of 60 million) preach that the US and Israel (and more generally, all non-Muslims) must be destroyed.
When we went into Iraq in 1991, we thought Hussein was still five years away from nuclear weapons. He was actually less than a year away. In 2003, we were worried again, but the best estimate was that he was five years away, as long as he didn’t get sanctions lifted. But (1) he was succeeding in creating a political atmosphere to lift sanctions (Russia and France and Germany argued for this), (2) he had developed workarounds including bribes (to hundreds of officials) providing him crooked money connected to Oil for Food, and (3) it has now been more than ten years in any case. He’d have had them long since. And Hussein with nukes is like a chimpanzee with a loaded revolver.
===|==============/ Keith DeHavelle
Indeed, many of the dead in Iraq were due to Saddam letting the farming industry in his statist controlled nation go to hell, while he spent every penny on the military. Ed put together a bunch of facts, and debunked facts, and then blamed Bush for those facts, were no causation exists. In short, standard leftist media MSM talking points. Imagine what they would be saying now if Bush had Obamas polices.
You seem to forget Clinton passed six time on either killing or capturing OB or his team putting up firewalls between the CIA and FBI which prevented intel sharing leading up to 9/11. We are repeating these lesson under Obama with Holder and Brennan. Islamofacicts are building inEurope and the US while we keep an open Southern border. With a communist mayor of NYC you will see his dismantle of NYPD Muslim counter-intelligence led to a mass causality event or even a nuke going off their. And Obama is going to keep turning the screws on us with the IRS…

http://www.businessinsider.com/new-report-shows-how-many-warnings-about-bin-laden-were-ignored-by-the-bush-white-house-2012-9
We already knew about the presidential brief from Aug. 6, 2001 that was titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” The White House has shown that this declassified document was primarily a history of Al Qaeda, not a warning of imminent attack.
But there were other briefings, some seen by Eichenwald, that did warn of an imminent attack.
On May 1 the CIA said that a terrorist group in the U.S. was planning an attack.
On June 22 it warned that this attack was “imminent.”
On June 29 the brief warned of near-term attacks with “dramatic consequences” including major casualties.
On July 1, the briefing said that the terrorist attack had been delayed but “will occur soon.”
On July 24, the president was told again that the attack had been delayed but would occur within months.
These and other similar warnings were ignored by the White House. The Neocons in charge insisted that the threat was instead a coordinated diversion meant to distract attention from Saddam Hussein, according to Eichenwald. This opinion frustrated the intelligence community, who saw the theory as totally illogical.
The Bush administration was told, as early as May 2001, about the threat of an attack by Al Qaeda.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/11/opinion/the-bush-white-house-was-deaf-to-9-11-warnings.html
Generic warnings did not help with the Clinton’s “Gorelick wall” in place, created by Jamie Gorelick to prevent Clinton’s China-money indiscretions overseas to be connected with domestic investigations into his campaign financing. Chinagate was successfully diverted into a sex scandal, though Clinton’s flat denials and suborning of witnesses made him impeachable after all.
I don’t know if you realize that the famous August brief was to downplay the idea of al Qaida using aircraft.
There was only one senior government official who had any specific warning — he was told that known terrorists were casing Boston’s Logan Airport and testing its security, likely for an aircraft-based attack. Another warning demonstrated that boxcutters and other knives were able to be snuck through onto aircraft at Logan 90% of the time. The official was John Kerry, and he decided to sit on the report and not pass it to anyone.
This is on top of all of the other activity reported about the hijackers and Logan before 9/11:
http://archives.californiaaviation.org/airport/msg40520.html
In the meantime, Gore’s commission had just successfully disarmed commercial pilots…
===|==============/ Keith DeHavelle
To be fair, Kerry did allegedly pass the report into the bureaucratic morass, but did not follow up nor take action, even when prompted later by anxious security officials.

750 000 Iraqi citizens dead? The number is unconfirmed and they were killed by their own coreligionists living in their own country. Just because Saddam’s savagery kept them from doing it doesn’t mean it wasn’t going to happen. Saddam was unlikely to live forever even if GW Bush hadn’t invaded.
Also, Iraqi citizens were dying in droves in wars started by Saddam, and he was killing his own, including using WMD, ad as mentioned, starvation due to policy choices.
We were lied into the war on Iraq, and we’re being lied to about the “Russian invasion of the Ukraine.” Who cares whose flag flies over the Ukraine? It’s not our damn business. By the way, Iraq was much better off under “the ruthless” Saddam Hussein, who was our ally for decades until he made the mistake of invading Kuwait in August 1990 after getting the green light from April Glaspie, our ambassador to Iraq.
We need to shut down all our foreign military bases, bring our troops home, and stop interfering in the domestic affairs of other countries. We are not the new Roman Empire. Incidentally, we are also bankrupt. We can’t afford any more wars.
I agree with the recommendation of two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner Lt. Gen. “Chesty” Puller, who said we should pass a law forbidding our troops from deploying more than 500 miles outside our borders. That common-sense measure would prevent a lot of costly, unconstitutional wars.
We will never stop the bankers/politicians from deliberately orchestrating wars until we get rid of the Fractional Reserve Banking that funds the wars and acts as a siphon sucking wealth out of the pockets of citizens and into the pockets of the bankers/politicians/military-industrial complex.
See my comment The critical History of War our schools never teach us.

*where … argh. That’s what I get for cleaning out my keyboard :P.
You are correct. John Dewey and George Count both very influential in American Education were Willing Accomplices of the Soviet Union. Dewey was also one of the founders of the American Fabians.
As I have said many times the Fabians founded the London School of Economics to train Fabian socialist progressives as political leaders, bankers and industrial leaders. The roots go back into the 1800s and perhaps well before.
There is not much on the net about George Count and the Soviet Union so I am going to steal a passage from Kent Clizbe’s book Willing Accomplices: How KGB Covert Influence Agents Created Political Correctness and Destroyed America (well worth the read BTW)
If you go on the web you will find Count characterized as ‘anti-communist’
That’s fascinating. Dewey I know of. Count, not so much. I must get that book. It sounds like it will be good. I’m about to be convinced that ‘willing accomplices’ is a bit easy on them.
The wild state of affairs is frightening, both here at home and abroad, mostly due to the fact of our leaders lacking nads.
The current world wide threats can only be met with effective results through issuing RFP’s (Request For Proposals), which is the business end of all deals.
When Germany, France, USA, Sweden, etc.. issue an RFP to see who has the experience, best technical approach and costs to eliminate issues such as ISIS, Hezbolah, etc.., then we will be able to deal with problems sanely and effectively.
Many nations of our planet have politicians in charge, who are incapable of dealing with the ugly side of mankind, so the clear answer is issuing RFP’s to those capable of taking care of BUSINESS.
The RFP could be titled “Snuf Em and How” or Switch Off Required or similar references, but the fact remains, The Free Market Works Wherever You Need It to!
