Hansen : Faking It In The Arctic In July

Hansen shows the region north of 80N red hot (1958-2002 baseline) in July, even though he has essentially no data there. DMI shows temperatures in July almost exactly normal.

If Hansen actually knew anything about the Arctic, he would know that having an anomaly of +4 degrees over the ice sheet during the summer is almost impossible. The latent heat of melting ice holds the temperature very close to freezing over the ice during the summer. But he needs those big Arctic numbers to keep the global temperature up close to scenario C – the zero emissions scenario.

Just wrong? Just evil? Just deluded? What exactly is this creature that goes by the name of James Hansen?

He’s a loony tune. If he was half as smart as he thinks he is(or grounded in reality), he would be capable of introspection and realize he’s a large part of some of the problems he rails against. The dumbass whines about fracking for nat gas. Uhmm….. that’s a direct response to not letting us mine coal. The guy understands renewable energy is a pipe dream and states it, but still advocates a carbon tax. I guess he believes people can just invent energy like he does temps. I really think this guy isn’t rowing with both oars.

  2. suyts says:

lol, I did a post that included this bit of mastery over reality….. he did the same in June too…. I can’t wait for August to be done so we can see the whole summer “anomaly.”

Now, it was explained to me, by our friend Peter, that invented temps are better than observed. Something about even though we’ve less ice evuh and its all but totally melted, temps won’t ever get much above 0 C……. because of all of the ice. So, we should just make stuff up, like how warm it Hansen thinks it would be if there wasn’t any ice.

But, this is an opportune time to repeat my assertion, arctic temps don’t have anything to do with arctic ice extent or area. It would if it average 50 def F or so, but it doesn’t.

Settled climate science – ca. 1902:
THE GULF STREAM DOES NOT AFFECT THE BRITISH CLIMATE.
Modern meteorology knows that the Gulf Stream as an ocean current has no more effect on the climate of western Europe than the weather-vane has on the winds that turn it. The Gulf Stream, in fact, might be engulfed at Colon, or dammed at Key West, without any one from the Scillys to the Hebrides being any the wiser…But, above all, climatic causation is not a function of ocean currents, but of aerial currents, and the mild oceanic climate of western Europe is due to the distribution by the permanent aerial circulation in the whole Atlantic basin of the moderating, mitigating effects of the ocean as a whole.”

Who wants to bet GISS is still relying heavily on ERA-40 for their Arctic temp trends despite ERA-40 recently being gobsmacked.

  5. Al Gored says:

Hansen needs to do an ‘I Have A Dream’ speech to give this stuff some context.

    This is real Madoff material.

Between Hansen and the story yesterday about NASA ‘scientists’ claiming aliens won’t like us because of AGW, it seems obvious that NASA needs to cut its budget DRASTICALLY.

I personally would start with a 50% cut, and then bring in the scalpel for more precise work.

  6. omnologos says:

Has any of the usual suspects in the blogosphere ever defended Hansen’s fake Polar data? I understand everything about the 1200km expansion zone is based on a single old article by Dear Jimmy, possibly never independently replicated by anybody else

    • suyts says:

lol, oddly, I don’t hear them discussing this much, but as I recollect, his boy Gavin blathered something about how he only needed a few temps to determine the global mean.

I see the juggling ass clown is at it again.

    • Paul H says:

Perhaps one day Tony will say something relevant.

      • Tony Duncan says:

        Paul,

it doesn’t matter. When I say something relevant, it is either ignored or drowned out in a cacophony of inventive obscurantism.
Which is why I love posting here. I know no one is interested in actually determining anything that goes against their ideology, so it gives me great freedom to be as relevant or not with no sense of obligation. Especially when Steve posts something as ridiculous as this.

  8. Blade says:

    Great animation.

    Exhibit A B C D E F at his trial for fraud.

  9. joseph says:

What I don’t understand is why the community of science lets Hansen continue this fraud year after year. Are there just no honest scientists left willing to call attention to this government backed fraud?

    • Mike Davis says:

He provides them with justification for their jobs! He helped make NASA a growth industry!

    • Tony Duncan says:

      Joseph,

Mike is right. Scientists are money grubbing scum. If they were interested in the truth, they would go into law or, or business where the pay is SO much worse and the moral standards are so much higher. That is why geologists are the only scientists to be trusted (except for all their national organizations of course). Nobody would miss losing a paycheck from the mining or oil industry it is such a pittance compared to the unreserved luxury life of a climate scientist.

  10. gator69 says:

It is worse than we thought! The permafrost fires have now obviously spread to the ice sheet! Polar bears are being burned alive and insects are migrating to feast on their hot carcasses! The aliens are going to kill us as soon as they arrive and sharks will rule the Earth!!! Tony has been right all along…

    • Tony Duncan says:

      Gator,

Ummm. Where have I stated anything that suggests i believe any alarmist claims about the climate? Why do i get the feeling that if I defended Hitler against claims of drowning innocent puppies, I would be accused of supporting the final solution. (see if anyone takes the bait there heh heh)
