Iraq Afghanistan Libya Syria Egypt – all a complete mess after four years of Obama – as Iran and North Korea build up their nuclear capabilities.

Steven, the french report that “la taupe sort de l’ombre à la maison blanc”.
The mole exits from the shade at the white house. The while house shakes. he he
That would be better interpreted as “comes from the shadow of the White House”. In other words, he is no longer facing as much of a threat due to getting away from the area that the administration controls, and at the same time also, he did what he did, i.e. burrow, because the administration has shadows, i.e. skeletons, so he was attracted to that because he was a mole.
So, a double-entendre, a bit of schadenfreude, and a bit of didactic, holier-than-thou elbowing from the French, which is all in a day’s work for them.

…leaves the shade of (or shadow in) the White House.
Yes! Thank you.
In reality, “La taupe sort de l’ombre à la Maison Blanche” means : the double agent (la taupe) is known for who he really is (sort de l’ombre) at the White House (à la Maison Blanche). I know : I’m French speaking, and no lazy coward (unlike what RTF thinks)
Jean-Paul, have we met? I don’t even know you. I don’t hold opinions of individuals based on the fact that they speak French. I myself have spoken French in the home and at work, though I am a little rusty today. So who is being judgmental, myself who, until you wrote, had no opinion of you at all, or you who already “knows” what I think of you based on the fact that you speak French?
As to your linguistic criticism. So you speak French, fine, but do you speak English?? In English, we wouldn’t necessarily needed to be so stilted in our words as the ones you have chosen. That is why I said “interpretation” instead of “translation”. Plus, we also use the word “mole” for double-agent, thus “mole” sounds much better in any English interpretation of the sentence.
In my life I have spoken a lot of French with native French speakers. Sometimes they are judgmental of my French, and sometimes they are quite pleased with it. (Actually, I guess that could also be judgmentalism too, couldn’t it? Oh, well. 🙁 ) I didn’t claim to be perfect, but I much prefer my or Harry’s versions as an English equivalent for that news blurb. Consider the full context of the story, and also that literal meanings are not always all that is intended, especially by the French, no?
Please know this: I don’t think you are lazy or a coward, nor do I consider these things to be general traits of the people of France. My comment was meant to suggest, not these things, but that many of them are not very nice, perhaps in many cases because they think that they are here to teach us the errors of our ways.
I went and put the following into Google translate, and here is what I got.
Input: Elle sort de l’ombre.
Output: It emerges from the shadows.
Then I put the following in for English-French, and look what I got.
He is outed by the White House.
Il est démasqué par la Maison Blanche.
He is forced out from the shadows.
Il est forcé à sortir de l’ombre.
He is forced out of the shadows.
Il est forcé à sortir de l’ombre.
He is known for who he really is.
Il est connu pour ce qu’il est vraiment.
I think you would agree the last French translation would make a very poor French headline or news blurb for this mole story.

Although I’m fairly sure those countries have been in a complete mess for many centuries anyway….
How about this idea, Richards, Fowler, and Nitschke: Obama’s “Midas touch” is limited to when Valerie Jarrett (mommy #1) or Michelle (mommy #2) tells him he can unzip his fly to take a piss. That’s what we have as an example of the “Leader” of the free world.
What about his internalized Muslim “mommy”, his own apparent inner guide, which is what enables all the other mommies (and czars) in his life in the first place?
Which would never be, of course, the Holy Spirit of truth? Available to all, but visited upon a select few. That’s why his “inner mommy” of conscience and truth is based upon an Iranian Muslim paradigm of jealousy, envy, and laziness; always grounded in “what does my Iranian-born mommy say about this?” What a LEADER (valerie jarrett is)!
You are completely missing the point…it IS the midas touch…for bankers and defense contractors. And this is just the foreplay, the real prize is Russia and China. Obama is just the latest stooge for a very old agenda.
It worked for Susan Rice, she has an estimated net worth of 24 to 44 million dollars. Much of it invested in foreign oil, and related entities.
