Yesterday one of the usual clowns on the thread was trying to claim that there has been an increase in the amount of hail in New Mexico due to global warming – citing this graph.
He forgot to mention this part :
the significant increase since 1987 is likely due to an increase in population and land use, and an increase in public awareness of severe weather through more aggressive spotter training at the WFO in Albuquerque
But ignoring the meaningless data above, let’s have a look at the theory. Convective hail is formed in violent thunderstorms which have very cold air in the mid to upper troposphere.
Global warming theory expects warming in mid-troposphere, so global warming should reduce the frequency of hail.
Children won’t know what drought is.
Our grandfathers apparently did not know what hail was. Or if they did, they didn’t bother to report it.
They figured it was part of the weather they should expect. Then NOAA came along and told them it was extreme.
Hail is only one portent. There has also been an increase in the births of two headed chickens.
You mean T.O.O.-headed chickens.
One is called Reggie and one is called Michael.
I’m surprised he didn’t just claim that the sky was falling.
