Disaster Looms For Arctic Alarmists

They told us that the ice is almost all gone, and that what was remaining was thin and fragile and would quickly disappear. As always, they have absolutely no clue what they are talking about.ScreenHunter_126 Jul. 22 05.12

The rowers are about 50 km closer to their destination than they were six days ago. That gets them through the NWP in about March.

By confining the graph to the years since 2005, you make it seem like this is an average year for ice. But the 1979- 1995 average is much higher. That is what the fuss is about.

    • squid2112 says:

Richard, are you really that stupid?

      • Lou says:

Apparently so. Then again, pretty much most if not all “liberals” aren’t too bright when it comes to anything.

      • Richard Lynch says:

This is what I am talking about. Every decade shows a decline in ice extent.

        • miked1947 says:

Every decade used a different resolution device to record the ice concentration and a different Mask to determine the land! Every decade also used different algorithms as inputs for their Computer generated graphics to display the ice and generate their “Magic Ice Numbers”.
So Richard you are showing us proof of GIGO! You are also showing us proof that the Arctic experiences long term weather patterns, like every other region on the globe. Come back in thirty years so we can discuss this entire ice cycle!

        • Gerald says:

So where is the 1930’s and 1940’s averages, Rick?

        • There Is No Substitute for Victory says:

It is so small that starting January 1st 2006 every Artic ice extent differential could be hidden by a comma. Then by mid January, 2006 the Artic ice extent was much lower than it had been at any time during the past 8 years. By December 31 2006 Artic sea ice was at an 8 year record high as far as total northern polar sea ice is concerned. So is this caused by climate which follows an overall set pattern but that can vary from year to year, or is the Artic sea ice simply following the dictates of weather, which ebb and flow over shorter periods of time causing sea ice coverage to both wax and wane?

It is also damning to the AGW fallacy that those who tend to believe in AGWt the strongest have the least real world experience or time spent in the out doors seeing the weather up close and personal. NO, hang gliding, rock climbing in the mall, or watching Timothy Treadwell’s saga on DVD doesn‘t, qualifies any of you (myself included) as a climate or weather expert. However spending all day, every day, day after day, outside in all seasons and during all kinds of weather like I did for over 50 years qualifies anyone (myself included) to have an opinion about the weather or how the weather may have, or may not have changed over time.

What we are seeing with the climate debate is cadres of Starbucks aficionados (Sorry Reggie) dabbling around in the Northern Polar regions like they were 19th Century New England missionaries, all of them are caught up in a religious fervor, preaching hellfire and damnation about the very building block of all life on Earth, (carbon) out of which 16% of our bodies are composed. They could just as will be Unitarian missionaries trying to put loin clothes and mumus on the bodies of us savage climate change deniers. Today people like Steven, Gator69, and I are looked down on as savages and barbarians by these same elites. I am speaking of corporations like Mainstream Last First etc and the whole AGW tribe like Reggie.

I am fully aware that if the global warming elites win this debate that metaphorical speaking (or maybe not) their next step will be handing out Small Pox infected blankets to us skeptics. They are that dishonest and committed to their error. AGW is and has always been about holding power over your lifestyle and mine, it has never been about saving a single human or even a polar bear cub and it never will. The next step will be to determine whether you and I live or whether we go away or die to save the planet from some yet undreamed of new climate casthrophiy. If you doubt my words, how often have you heard the Reggie’s of this world rue even 1/8 of the current human population as too many humans on Earth. A word to the wise is sufficient; a word to the foolish is wasted breath.

There is far, far more ice now than when the Vikings actually did row around the Arctic Archapeligo. Because the Vikings didn,t row around as a publicity stunt fuelled by the moral clarity of a couple of Eco Greenie Environmentalists who think they can prove their god, Gaia, is in a could mood and must be placated with rowing blisters and expeditionary zeal.

These guys might make the record books as the dumbest, most poor planned expedition carried out by the most gullible Greenie adventurists ever.

Can’t wait to see how they spin their failure.

“We’ll Oprah, we actually did succeed in drawing a massive amount of attention and people know how to spell our names now so we think we have been very successful. Yes it is true we only got 200 miles and never rowed out of sight of the shoreline, but you have to understand that is an amazing success for us city boys who really know nothing about the Arctic”

Two can play at the pick and chose your data points game.

    • Jorge says:

By expanding the year to 1979, you make it seem that the average is higher than it’s supposed to be. The 1970s and early 8os had an unusually LARGE amount of ice given that it was the end of the last cooling phase. We are now in what appears to be the first couple of years in the new cooling phase, so the ice will be low but will gradually increase with time.

Serious question Richard … What should the sea-ice extent be compared to the 1970’s? More, less, or the same?

  2. juergenuie says:

The media will ignore the 2013 Arctic. They do it with the increasing Antarctica.
The ice area globally is following the mean of 1979-2008 and the anomaly right now is positive.

There goes the warming claim down the drain.

  3. Greg Locke says:

With all due respect, Mr. Lynch, I disagree. The “fuss” is, and has always been about the “death spiral” and the predictions of an ice free Arctic, perhaps as soon as September of this year. On these points the alarmists appear to being proved wrong, as they have been with most of their extreme predictions.

  4. RAVerhoeckx says:

The alarms have been seen visiting a Voodoo Tent where chicken bones are being tossed on the ground to determine their next prediction It is all about Voodooism and chicken bones.

“Extreme predictions” is a tautology in the warmist case.
BTW, the William Parry search for the Northwest Passage in 1819 was based on the confident prediction of an “ice-free arctic”. The warmists have been dead wrong for far longer than they realize.

  7. Traitor In Chief says:

    I sense an “adjustment” coming….

  8. Bob Koss says:

I see they finally arrived at Nicholson Peninsula airport. I wonder if they are going to fly in some fresh Starbucks or fly out some not so fresh rowers.

  9. Kaboom says:

Enjoy the horror when the graph should settle above the 2006 line in the coming weeks.

  10. Fred from Canuckistan says:

The rowers need a theme song, something the can play on their Ipods while the row and tug away the hours.

    Perfect song to row to.

    Geologic time began in 1979.
