Republicans Vote To Continue Trampling The Bill Of Rights

Democrats tried to end illegal spying on American citizens, but the trusty Republicans came through to give Obama the boost he needed.

Despite the White House’s lobbying against the amendment, a majority of House Democrats – 111 – voted for it. Eighty-three Democrats voted against.

Among Republicans, 94 voted for the Amash amendment and 134 against.

It was introduced by Michigan Republican Justin Amash, who warned during Wednesday’s debate that the proposal’s critics would “use the same tactic every government throughout history has used to justify its violation of rights: fear.

They’ll tell you that the government must violate the rights of the American people to protect us against those who hate our freedom.”

The amendment was weapons grade stupid. Thank GOD someone had the brains to kill it.

  2. Chewer says:

Again, the GOP leadership is anything but!
A true leader would bring his party together to discuss methods and approaches to stopping the demonizing, unpatriotic and hatefull DNC. He would call each member and ask them to express terms the population can and will understand, such as: “The progressives are complete assholes”, “The progressives want you to accept their frame of politically correct thought, so let them, the media and the people that voted you into office know that they can go suck on some hog dick, just like their ass licking clerics”.
“The left is consumed by tree hugging, non-productive egotistical-you owe me pieces of shit who could care less about anything but themselves and their dream-driven agenda’s to stop all human development on this planet, you know the ones who want your money to expand their power & control over every aspect of your life in every way, shape and form”!
The leadership has lost their balls in the DC environment and they need to be told to grow some or get the hell out!

The Republicans take every progressive idea and try to “improve” on it instead of telling them they are insane and to stuff it. They want to convert millions of illegals to citizens who, according to polling, will vote 8-1 for democrats. Now anybody that supports that is freaking nuts or democrats in disguise.

      • Chewer says:

The go-along to get along mentality of the GOP lite have destroyed any chance of restoring our nation to one of dignity, integrity and thoughtfulness.
In short, we are hosed and the politically correct assholes who hate us are in need of some feedback measuring the same strength or greater, and in mass…

    • No…just get the hell out. (They had their chances.)

  3. The Iconoclast says:

Right in front of your very eyes more than half of congress voted to continue violating the Constitution (that they swore to uphold) by illegally seizing and searching every single electronic communication of every single American citizen.

And by the way, folks, it’s not going to turn out to just be metadata. They get the content, too. Remember PRISM and the fiber taps?

  4. Anto says:

The sooner people realize that the most important distinction is not a Democrat vs Republican thing, or liberal vs conservative thing, but a government vs the people thing, the sooner something can actually be done about it. The rise of UKIP in the United Kingdom shows that third parties can tap into the popular consciousness. It’s a much harder thing to do in the USA, where the two-party system is so ingrained.

So far, there’s no viable third party developing in the US, but it’s only a matter of time.

Protect WHAT FREEDOM. Where Gov knows every move and action you take. Controls or records every aspect of you life, and regulates everything in general you can or can’t do. YOU are no longer FREE you are an animal allowed to wander in a Political cage till they tire of your existence.
TRY LEAVING AND TAKING YOUR STUFF NOT WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. If you try an renounce your citizenship you can NOT. Again without their permission. If they grant it they then seize any and all assets in the country. Property bank accounts stocks everything. 1984 was pale compared to these guys wait till Obama care, SELECTION MEDICINE who lives who dies by known political views. .

  6. The Cloak Room says:

Maybe Steven needs to rethink his opposition to the 97% AGW consistence or else buy himself a new pencil. There is only a 12% difference between the support the Democrat minority provided for passage of this amendment and the support or votes the Republican majority provided. In other words out of 422 voting, 111 Democrats voted no and 94 republicans voted no, for a total of 205 no votes out of 422 votes cast, meaning spying on the American people continues on the combined yes votes of a combined 17 Republican and Democrat Congressmen. No party has anything to crow about concerning this vote. I only reluctantly accept the tail that someone’s tea bags aren’t showing here. When the cyphering is cyphered out, and the math is all scribbled down and done, it looks to this old political operative more like the vote was a negotiated vote, designed to neither embarrass nor to empower either party.
