“Decayed, rotten brains have become to thin to think properly” would be more accurate Steven.
This is the new normal for ice. They call it arctic weirding. The ice is so thin, rotten, decrepit, sick, and decayed that it can no longer melt normally.
I guess the rowers expected smooth sailing. The models predicted it, after all, and the science is settled.
Meanwhile the DMI arctic temperature has dropped to 0C at one of the earliest dates ever.

Only 1972 and 2010 seem to have gotten this cold at an earlier date.
