He reports :

Climate-related disasters killed 21,000 people in the first nine months of this year, more than double the number in 2009, the humanitarian organization Oxfam reported on Monday.

That is a huge improvement from 1931, when as many as 3.7 million people died in  just one flood.

  1. double the number in 2009

Why not just say quadruple? It will be as true as double and will stir up the believers will has cause to be even more committed. Come on Oxfam, take the gloves off.

There are no climate related disasters.
There are only weather related disasters.
And most of them are manmade.

  3. jim says:

If you homogenized the data the way any climate scientist would, you could claim that the equivalent figure in todays terms was 12 million people died in 1930 as the population back then was 489 million.

If the modern pseudo climate scientist was around in the 1930’s what would he have then said about 4,000,000 people dying vis a vis the 25,00o in 2010.

  4. PhilJourdan says:

What Romm and Tony will say – we have learned how to minimize the deaths from disasters in the past 80 years.
