The Big Lie Continues To Grow

The NAO is only cooling a small area round northern Europe. Elsewhere in the world, 2010 has seen near-record warm temperatures.

Keeping the public misinformed is a critical part of the strategy. Western Europe makes up only a tiny portion of the cold regions of the planet. Almost all of Asia is running far below normal temperatures, as is much of the rest of the planet.

How hot is it around the Hudson Bay? Is -10 to -20C what climatologists call “hot?”

  1. 2011 will be the year of Progressivism in a desperate rush to misinform the public. Let’s make it their death throe.

But it’s been hot in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is huge!

  3. PJB says:

In the spirit (not of the season) of the continuing program to adapt to what Mother Nature is doing in spite of model predictions to the contrary, we can soon expect:

    Global Climate Variability

It is certainly worse than we thought or had any reason to believe.

It’s 10.00am in the morning Monday the 27th of December right now here in Melbourne Australia. The temperature currently sits at 12 degreesC (54F). The expected temperature today is 19degreesC (66F)
It’s summer time!! Temps well below normal.
Things weren’t much better yesterday or the day before (Xmas day).

I’m traveling 2000Km’s North to Subtropical Queensland tomorrow – I’ve been told to bring a brolly, wet suit and anchor.

Les I’m in Brisbane and have kids further north at the Sunshine Coast. I hope you are NOT driving, you will not get through as the worst of it has not hit south of Rockhampton yet.

  5. Dave N says:

I still think something is amiss with the anomaly map around Hudson Bay. I’d be interested to know what, and how many stations they’re measuring from up there.

The anomalies for Australia don’t look right, either. I’m in Adelaide and we’re still freezing our asses off this summer, yet the map shows a few degrees warmer than normal? Having said that, this weeks forecast looks like we’ll be returning to “normal” for at least a few days.

  6. Cthulhu says:

“What about global warming? Doesn’t this all make those theories about warming look a bit stupid? Well, no. The NAO is only cooling a small area round northern Europe. Elsewhere in the world, 2010 has seen near-record warm temperatures.”

There’s no inconsistency. They are comparing with the context of a year not last week. You are talking about how cold the globe is this week. They are talking about global warming and how warm it’s been this year.

For example: “In November, northern Europe was a most unusual 4C colder than normal. But according to Nasa, last month was the warmest-ever November worldwide. Right now, there are record temperatures west of Greenland and into Canada, where they are wondering when winter will start.”

    and:

“The big long-term driver of climate change still looks like the greenhouse effect of gases such as carbon dioxide we put into the air every time we burn fossil fuels.

But global warming is only about global averages. What it means for real weather, place by place, day by day and season by season, is still impossible to predict.”

The article is actually a very good overview.

    • 2010 has seen near-record warm

So though it was warmer in the past this “near record warm” means global warming is happening. You guys are all going batty. And you don’t even know you are.

You do understand that if it was warmer in the past it means it is now cooling? I wouldn’t want to ask you to hard of a question.

    • But according to Nasa

Bingo! You win! You bring up James Hansen!!

    • “But global warming is only about global averages.”

Global average temperatures are calculated from a small percent of local average temperatures, this in turn fabricates a completely different set of averages that are basically “defunct” of any realistic local or global temperatures.

Then how does local C02 drive “global averages”? It doesn’t.
C02 doesn’t effect local average temperatures.

Global average CO2 levels are calculated from a small percent of local average CO2 levels, this in turn fabricates a completely different set of averages that are basically “defunct” of any realistic local or global CO2 levels.

How does that line from Inception go, The worst virus in an idea?

Steve, your good with colors and graphs as your sea ice images, have you ever swithed the blue with the red in an image such as http://stevengoddard.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/12-26-2010-2-41-53-pm.jpg and see if the immediate visual impact is not also flipped. Red is so much more powerful of a color than dark blue. I’d love to see a comparison, fight fire with fire! Color the cold red.
