1929 : ” Men in ships have circumnavigated the Arctic Ocean”

Steve,
I know you are all about quantity, but you need to read the articles you post.
just above what you copied was this relevant text
“No surface ship can push its way through the tough ice pack or withstand the pressure of the weighty wind-driven floes. Not even the sturdy ice-breaker Krassin. with its marvellous mechanical aids, which crashed its way through the edge of the pack to rescue Nobile and the Italian’s crew, could expect to conquer the mid-Arctic ice or make a trans-Arctic journey.”
and the the FULL quote that you took the above snippet from.
“But the search for a! navigable north-west or north-east passage has so far been in vain. It has cost hundreds of lives and millions in money. Men in ships have circumnavigated the Arctic Ocean, yet a practical route for surface vessels has not been found.”
Somehow that does not sound like he is talking about any period where the arctic was close to being ice free, since he is talking about using submarines to go under the ice.
as always i await the deluge of proofs that I am an idiot.
No, your own words do a fine job of convicting you. If you read more betterly they might convince you as well.
Ahhh. Just like now.
TonyD is just too funny today. Practical is the key word as it does not exist even today with all our advances in technology.
What a shock,
Stark and Steve ridicule me without offering any actual facts to contradict the actual quotes from the article
The fact that “Tony Duncan” cannot comprehend plain English indicates that his bizarre interpretation needs facts other than the ones he himself has presented to refute?
