Red is March, 2011 MYI. Green is September, 2010 MYI. Unless there was a huge amount of ice compaction towards the Canadian coast, there will be an increase in MYI area over last September, as there has been each September since 2008. There would have to be almost 80% loss of MYI this summer to match 2010.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Why I think this may not happen….

No, wait!! Not that kind……..
this kind!
Yea, funny how this is never addressed. I am sure that if some “expert” waves their hands wildly enough, any increase in ice loss from the never ending breaking up of the ice will be completely reversed from the new wind patterns that they create.
If Arctic ice is so precious, why hasn’t anyone petitioned to have laws and treaties passed to keep people from damaging it? Nope, just CO2. The boats blowing holes in it do not damage it at all. Ignore your what you see right before your eyes.
Have you seen the traffic?
I’ve two pics (sadly different sizes)

lol, no doubt. I’m hoping some industrious U.S. company takes advantage of the ice free conditions being created (manufactured?) and poise themselves as the Russians seem to have.
Its like sitting on the side of the road in winter time, watching the snow plows go by, then using the lack of snow on the road as proof of…..something. Just ignore the physical processes that are removing the material then come up with some elaborate story about changes in ocean patterns, wind patterns, or whatever suits your needs. But by all means, ignore anything simple that might be contributing.
lol, no doubt. No way the near record low could have anything to do with continuous ice cutting goings-on in the arctic.
Nuclear powered ice-breakers………..
The “near-record low” was due to a warm winter in the Kara and Laptev seas. The 15% concentration metric is a ridiculously silly way to measure the “health” of the ice.
LOL……….shipping has increased at least 10 fold
..got to get all those scientists up there some how
Yeh, I never got that either. 15%? What does that mean? Arctic ice health is determined by how many slushys we can make!
I think it is somewhat ironic that there is a nuclear powered ice breaker called Yamal.

More ironic – the photo was taken by an NSF employee while performing their official duties. I guess they have no respect for the fragile Arctic Ice at NSF.
