No state in the union was safe from July’s blistering heat wave, according to data from the U.S. National Climatic Data Center.
The horrible July heat wave, lasting weeks in some cities, the entire month in others, affected nearly 200 million people in the United States at some point. Preliminary data show that 2,712 high-temperature records were either tied or broken in July, compared with 1,444 last year, according to the NCDC. At least one weather station in all 50 states set or tied a daily high temperature record at some point during July.
If you have 100 stations in a state and a one hundred year record, you would expect to have on average one high temperature record set somewhere in the state every single day. Their article is junk science alarmism at it’s worst. Look at the stats for Idaho. It has been a very cold summer in the Pacific Northwest.
Idaho
Highest Max : Out of a possible 180,955 records: 0 (Broken) + 4 (Tied) = 4 Total
Lowest Max : Out of a possible 180,955 records: 14 (Broken) + 12 (Tied) = 26 Total

Washington
Highest Max : Out of a possible 180,955 records: 0 (Broken) + 2 (Tied) = 2 Total
Lowest Max : Out of a possible 180,955 records: 29 (Broken) + 16 (Tied) = 45 Total
They should withdraw their article. It is a wildly misleading joke.
I think they really don’t grasp the “record for that small specific location” concept and how the law of averages says we’ll get lot’s of records like. I guess they just ignored Dr. Christy’s congressional testimony……. dipsticks.
I think they grasp it all but HAVE to push the AGW agenda regardless of reality.
Scientifically, the number of records tied or broken in the USA means not a thing about GLOBAL warming. Ask Hansen and his “2% of world area” comment.
Until they start adjusting temps down for UHI, it’s all noise anyway. We have record populations with each passing year too.
