Call it off! Spurs stars want Premier League opener scrapped amid fears of ongoing riots
Terrified Tottenham players have called for this weekend’s opening day Premier League fixture to be called off amid fears over the London riots.
Spurs are set to host Everton at White Hart Lane on Saturday but the match is in doubt after trouble erupted in the surrounding area of the stadium last weekend following the shooting of local man Mark Duggan.
England’s international with Holland was the first big sporting casualty after outbreaks of disorder swept the capital and forced tonight’s friendly to be scrapped, while four Carling Cup games and Ghana v Nigeria were axed.
And Wednesday’s schedule has also been affected with Bristol Rovers’ home clash with Watford in the Carling Cup now postponed on police advice.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Spurs fans used to be made of sterner stuff. I remember going to Southampton one day …
I remember the good old days of burned out trains in Reading, and standing at matches with only barbed wire between you and the hooligans on the other side.
British recording artist Sting says President Obama could be the answer to the world’s problems – the divine answer.
“In many ways, he’s sent from God, because the world’s a mess,” he said in a new interview with the Associated Press.
So far so good, huh ?
That could explain his problems with the birth certificate.
Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, claimed he was doing ‘God’s work.’ Maybe that is why they donated so much cash to Barry’s campaign. God, through Goldman Sachs, needs smooth-talking puppets.
Anyway, Tottenham have just signed a black Italian striker – he’s called Grabatelli 🙂
Come on you Spurs !
I’m stealing that.
You guys sure about this?
I was thinking that it was more likely that the weenies don’t want to take the chance that the so-called Hooligans might do some ass-whoopin’ on the vandals in the streets after the game is over.
