60 MPH

When it spent a full day stalled in the Gulf of Mexico, without gaining strength to become a hurricane, I knew it would not be a major hurricane, but most probably only a rainstorm. And I do not count myself as an expert, only a long-time (and merely casual) observer of tropical storm/hurricane tracks as they approach and move onto the US mainland. All those who hyped this storm after that failure to become a hurricane even after stalling for a full day over the Gulf, should be called to account for their unprofessional hype (as you have been well and properly focused on doing). Look at all those 10 mph readings on land, along the coast — that is a modest breeze, barely noticeable if you are walking down the street with other things on your mind.
They will send in their “Extreme Weather Forensics Experts” in a couple of weeks to examine the blades of grass and determine the wind speed to 3 decimal places. Then we will all know it was really a Cat 6 storm that hit NO LA. Just a few MINOR adjustments are needed. 😉
