   During 1933, separate major hurricanes hit the Florida and Texas coasts, only one day apart. That was 2 weeks after yet another hurricane caused severe damage from Norfolk to DC.

   So, two major hurricanes were hitting almost simultaneously in 1933, but there have been no major hurricanes at all during the last 8 years.
