Blame Bush.

June 14, 2013Ben Rhodes, the White House national security advisor behind the claim that President Bashar Al-Assad used chemical weapons in Syria, is a fiction writer with zero educational background in government, diplomacy or national security who also played a key role in covering up the truth behind the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.
Ignorance, and incompetence is no barrier to employment in the Obama administration.
In this administration it is seen as a virtue.
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
One has to wonder if the WMD’s being used by Assad came from Iraq prior to the US invasion. One of Saddams generals claimed that the MWD’s that were in Iraq prior to the war were shipped out of the country and into Syria prior to the invasion. No one took him seriously then, but now………….
Just wondering.
Yes the WMD largely came from IRAQ. I know a soldier in US Army who observed the trucks going to Syria. They were not allowed to engage because they potentially had Nerve gas or other agents. To attack risked releasing the Gas. So he was compelled to just watch. (This was in 2003).
Good point, SMS.
However, Inforwars is Alex Jones, He is certifiably insane, and/or staggeringly dishonest. He thinks 9-11 was an “inside job” by the Bush Administration, and he says that fluoride & vaccines are gov’t plots to poison you and your children, to make you docile.
Even a stopped clock is occasionally right, but it is folly to trust information from Alex Jones.
This information did not come from Alex Jones. It was reported on some of the cable news channels.
Are you trying to dismiss the possibility that the WMD’s used in Syria cam from Iraq? You seem to be wanting to do that by quoting one outlier rather than finding the articles quoting the Iraqi General.
I don’t follow Alex, but have heard him with some far out accusations. If he is wrong about 80% of his accusations, I want to know about the other 20%.
During the 90s, Andy Grove of Intel released a book titled” “Only the Paranoid Survive”. This book was about competitive tech companies. Having worked for one of them, I can attest, the atmosphere was rather paranoid over satisfying customers and loss of market share.
If this level of worry is appropriate in industry, what must it be when National Security is at stake?
So my view is that the very most improbable hypothesis must be thoroughly investigated. Conspiracy theory must not be merely acknowledged, but embraced.
With 9-11, there clearly existed a conspiracy…. comprised (at least) of those we know were involved. The question is how far did the conspiracy extend?
At the moment, my view is that there may well have been actors within our government. Claiming involvement of “The Bush Administration” casts a broad swath.
I don’t take Bush’s deer in the headlights stare when he was told of the first aircraft as complicity, but bewilderment and frantic calculation.
It depends on the words spoken to him. Was he simply told that an aircraft had hit the WTC? What details were offered?
Good article from Le Monde (in English) on the use of chemical agents in Syria.
Hard to dismiss. The French under Hollande have no barrows to push, and these guys appear to have been on the ground (although I did laugh at the heroic poses in the photos…but they make sense too, if you are an embedded Dutch photographer surrounded by cannibal jihadis).
No, this is just the usual self inflicted wound by Obama. Under pressure from his side of politics he set a ‘red line’ not thinking Assad would be insane enough to cross it. Dentists, though, start out mad even before they are made into tyrants. Now Obama can’t walk back his red line, he’s stuck in a crack with no way out.
Syria has no nerve gas or anything else. They would have been detected long ago if they tried to make it. Saddam never had it, he was fooling around with precursors, the UN shut him down in 1992-1993. Saddam used nitrogen mustards against the Kurdish and Shi’a rebellions; this capability was compliments of the US, who helped him along in is war against Iran.
Obama is arming the wrong people. These people will turn Syria into another Taliban Afghanistan. They hate the US more than Assad does. The only hope is to let them come to a stalemate where neither group can do too much about the other group.
This is one of the few times Jones reports accurately.
