Blowing Methane Out Their Posteriors

Methane makes up less than two parts per million in the atmosphere. If everyone at the Rose Bowl represented one molecule, odds are there would be no methane molecules represented.

RRTM, the radiative transfer model used by NCAR, shows that a 10X increase in methane would increase downwelling longwave radiation in the tropics by just over 1 w/m², or about 0.25%.

Methane also quickly oxidizes in the atmosphere.

In other words, fearmongering about methane is bullshit.

Speaking of methane, the UN Tower of Babel is getting into more shit:

What especially struck me in this article was their push for “Equality in Multilingualism” for the six UN official languages: English, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, French, and Spanish. Each language should be equal… Another obvious reason this “organization” so ineffective…

“The Assembly went on to adopt a draft resolution on multilingualism, which emphasized the paramount importance of equality among the six official languages of the United Nations.  It underlined the need for full implementation of the resolutions establishing arrangements for the official and working languages of the United Nations, as well as the Secretariat’s responsibility for the equitable integration of multilingualism into is activities.

By other terms, the Assembly emphasized the importance of making use of all the official languages and of ensuring their full and equitable treatment in all activities of the Department of Public Information, with a view to eliminating the disparity between the use of English and that of the other five.  It reaffirmed the need for full parity among the six official languages, and for linguistic diversity on all United Nations-related materials on the web, in documentation and conference services, in human resources management, as well as in United Nations field offices and peacekeeping operations.”

Print everyone’s news in a different language every day.
That would be “fair” to all languages.
    Crush that arrogant “English” language.
    Morons.

I picked this up at Climate etc
With regards to climate models, there is a new paper by Jiping Liu in PNAS that infers from CMIP5 climate model simulations that the Arctic will be ice free in September by around 2054-58. Liu et al. selected the climate model runs that agreed most closely with the observed sea ice decline. So even the climate models with a CO2 sensitivity that is arguably too high don’t predict an imminent ice free Arctic.

A forecast for something 40 years in the future is a total waste of time, since it cannot be proved or disproved. Maybe the Rapture will take place between 2054 and 2058. That can’t be proved or disproved either.

You should take a good look at satelite images of the China coast from Shanghai to inland Beijing; what a horror.Methane is not the culprit of course, but does get trapped in the process. Methane doesn’t oxidise ‘immediately’ upon entering the atmosphere, however, and ‘quickly’ doesn’t really fully or accurately describe the process.
