The nation’s top lawman said during a speech at an NAACP convention in Orlando that the law — which featured prominently during the murder trial of George Zimmerman — should be reexamined and reformed.
“It’s time to question laws that so dangerously expand self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods,” Holder said, just miles from the Sanford, Fla., courtroom where Zimmerman, 29, stood trial in Trayvon Martin’s death.
Stand Your Ground laws give the benefit of the doubt to the gunman if he can prove he fired because he feared for his life. The law, which exists in some form in more than 20 states, does not require that a person retreat if possible — a concept Holder said is critical in legal concepts of self-defense.
As Zimmerman’s head was being bashed in, Holder believes that he should have retreated into the sidewalk beneath him, rather than firing his gun.
Holder is exploiting a crisis (he helped create) to push his punk defense agenda. Only libtards call for you to retreat when you are attacked where you have a right to be. There is no basis in English common law; it was invented by libs to protect their voters.

Hard to retreat when you are on your back with your opponent whaling on your head. The defense, not disproven by the prosecution, was self-defense, nothing was said about “stand your ground” in court. Once the libs start a narrative, they are not deterred by pesky things like facts.
They are like Muslim jihadists, convinced of the rightness of their cause, and completely deluded. This is the general problem of our time, on many fronts–false dogma, aggressively advanced to threaten and tyrannize.

It’s hard to make this remark on a skeptical blog like this but I think the outcome of the past elections can’t be blamed on suburban BHO voters alone. The elections have been rigged and let’s face it, most of the electorate is to stupid or to lazy to vote. Period.
Next time they should perform some due diligence on the Presidential candidates, Democrats as well as Republicans and check what happens during the election process. If we do that, you’re all be fine.

Although I agree with many of the sentiments expressed here, I do rather wish that REAL SCIENCE was not becoming so involved in day-to-day politics, etc., as it seems to dilute the message about the global warming hoax.
That said, there is a corollary aspect between the contrived Trayvon story and the contrived GW story. The MSM and Eric Holder have now settled on a Big Lie – that Zimmerman was saved from “real justice” because of a hold-your-ground law in “racist” Florida. Zimmerman’s defense never mentioned “hold-your-ground”, but this new Big Lie serves the purposes of the Left – so it will be repeated every day until every low-information citizen accepts it as a Great Truth. So the GW Big Lie principle does carry over.
The global warming hoax is pretext but not the main event. It is simply a softening up in preparation for a repeat of Germany’s Kristallnacht 1938 and much that followed. The Zimmerman trial and the follow on Big Lie is the next step in that direction. The thugs on the street and in government are going to have all constraint removed if Holder gets his way.
My estimate is that we are at the intellectual, philosophical, and psychological level of Germany in 1937. Not many more steps to go until we have our vary own Kristallnacht.

Illinois is not one of them. They are bordered on all sides by states that do.
In Illinois, they don’t want you to stand your ground. They want you to run for the state line (in any direction) to be safer.

In Holder’s view of things, Zimmerman “stalked” Martin and “murdered” him in cold blood, for being black. That is so much more satisfying to the black racists than the truth, that Zimmerman is a bit of a milk-toast, mild-mannered that is, and was not primed for action. Martin started the actual fight, escalated it, and would have severely hurt Zimmerman if not killed him, if Zimmerman had not finally given up on getting outside help and realized he had to shoot his opponent NOW or die.
I assume that means surrender of the Obama administration to the terrorists must be imminent then because that is the logical conclusion of his ramblings.

Neither Mark O’Meara nor Don West used “stand-your-ground” as a defense during the criminal trial. It was a straight up self-defense plea, and there never was a stand your ground hearing.
I predict “stand-your-ground” will be used during the civil trials that follow, in order to reach “preponderance of the evidence” criteria.
Especially the one where Zimmerman sues the Martin family for failing to control their underage son, which was the primary cause of the confrontation. Zimmerman Suing the State of Florida for following through with the Show Trial when they had evidence showing it was self defense. The State of Florida suing the Martins for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, their son.
And where is the US army? Did they not solemnly swear (or affirm) that they will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic?
Robertv, yes, they did , in fact, swear that. Just like the President swears an oath to the Constitution.
It is theater. No one really means it. Some of them think they mean it. I wish it were not so, but the evidence says otherwise. If the US Army really wished to support and defend the Constitution, they would be surrounding Washington DC as we speak.
I have had long discussions with members of the US military — active, reserve, former and retired. Most have told me that they still support the Constitution. Sadly, I have never found even one of them that had any serious knowledge of what the Constitution actually says. Not one. When given examples of what the Constitution mandates, they all responded with some variation of “Yeah, that’s maybe good in theory, but in the real world we can’t expect to run things that way and still protect ourselves! After all, the Constitution is not a suicide pact!”
The Constitution is a dead letter.
