After Zimmerman verdict, can nation heal racial rift?
SANFORD, Fla. — George Zimmerman is a relieved man in hiding. Those convinced of his guilt in the death of Trayvon Martin continue to protest his acquittal and other perceived injustices.
Now that the trial is over, some people are counseling that it’s time to heal and move on. But protests were being held across the country Sunday by people who say they can’t move on while they feel that the case and the bigger issues of race and justice that it represents are unresolved.
The racial aspects of this case are :
- Black teenager attacked creepy as cracka
- NBC doctored the 911 call to make it look like Zimmerman was a racist
- Obama and Holder worked hard to make it look like Martin was an innocent kid gunned down by a racist because he was black.
- Other blacks are thrilled to have an excuse to threaten violence against more creepy ass crackas, including the jury.
- The press corpse wants to relieve their Rosa Parks/LSD days from the 1960s

Getting a new TV out of the verdict makes it all ok.

Demonization of drug users set the Orwellian precedent for contemporary demonization of gun owners. Nice going, conservatives. LSD users created Silicon Valley.

NikFromNYC: Are there any negative side-effects, specifically of an economic or societal nature, that you are aware of, associated with the usage of LSD? I’m not going to contradict or debate you about the question, since the information is readily available. I’m just curious as to what your belief or understanding is.

I worked in Silicon Valley for a few years. Mostly Asians who never ever take any kind of drugs.
I don’t know that LSD brought us much more than ‘A Clockwork Orange’ and ‘Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’, but I do agree with Nik about restricting freedoms and where that leads. For those of you who have not thought long and hard about Prohibition, you really do not know of what these progressives are truly capable. Prohibition is a major story in the evolution of this country, and here is a reason why the left does not talk about and does not teach us about Prohibition. They want to do it again, and again, and again, and again…
Study history, dig deep and verify your sources are not rewriting the past.
Gator, honestly I don’t know why you continue to bring up Prohibition with me as if I support it. With all due respect, you have no idea what I support politically, because I don’t feel at liberty to really talk about it here, and you haven’t been interested enough to ask me at my own blog. Oh well, such is life. But I really do wish you would not continue to characterize my statements about drugs as a defense of Prohibition, with everything that that episode entailed. My philosophy of government is New -Testament-based and is extremely, extremely different from yours and also from Stevens’s. So while you may not realize it, you really make a tangle of things when you try to attack me as a Prohibitionist. Peace be with you, my friend.

Hey Richard! I’m sorry you feel I persecute you, but I was replying to Nik’s comment, the commentary was not aimed at you. You are right, I have not visited your blog and do not know your views on everything. I just found myself surprised that I agreed with something Nik has said.
That said, Prohibition is an integral part of our history and something younger folks know nothing about. And it started long before 192o, with progressives in our schools.
If I am obsessed with history, so be it.
Thanks for your reply. I did not feel you were persecuting me, merely trying to make a case, which was fine as long as it was an argument that I felt I could engage in. Unfortunately that was not the case with this particular matter.
There certainly is nothing wrong with being a big fan of history! I’m not sure that I have the time to study it in the depth that you have done, though I don’t consider myself a dummy on the subject. Also for the record, we are not that far apart in age, I believe less than 15 years.

I have been in IT since ’73. Met very few people who did LSD in the field. Lived in San Francisco for 20 of those years and again met few people who ever did LSD in IT there.

I doubt LSD users actually did anything of any use anywhere. Although probably a few people in Silicon Valley may have tried LSD and it may not have entirely interfered with what they would otherwise have achieved.
Here’s another thought.
Leninists and other totalitarians need no precedent in order to demonize gun owners or any other group that they hate. This is just a behavior that comes easily to them. For many of them, it is part and parcel of what they are.
Now if you are saying that the mere criticism by conservatives of the use of drugs is a form of demonizing drug users, I would disagree. However, after some thought, I guess I have to agree with you that there are conservatives out there who do demonize drug users, primarily in blog comments, but happily, it seems not to be the majority of conservatives. It is definitely wrong and should not be happening.
