Last month Obama said that global warming was accelerating at unforeseen rates, and that he didn’t have time to debate it with the flat earth society. He probably should have talked to some actual scientists first, before making a complete fool out of himself.
A scientific assessment of the planet’s heat balance has found that the most likely explanation for the recent hiatus in global warming is the continual absorption of thermal energy by the huge “heat sink” of the deep ocean many hundreds of metres below the sea surface, according to scientists from the Met Office.
The MET office is on a rampage trying to convince themselves that the pause isn’t real and/or is temporary.
They pretty much have to, those super computers weren’t cheap.
Of course they say the heat went to an area with no temp records in previous times. How convenient.
Here is the missing heat at the bottom of the ocean

Where is Hans Brinker when you need him?
I found his hotel:

Heat to the bottom of the ocean? I wonder if there is any scientific (or even half-scientific) basis to this claim whatsoever? Sounds like ‘wild surmise’ to me!
I also wonder what the Met Office reaction will be if/when the ‘pause’ ends with temperatures actually dropping?
It’s global warming science’s version of the epicycle.
It’s the last place they have left where the uncertainty is so huge, that they can get away with claiming that the heat *might* be down there somewhere.
Last refuge of scoundrels.
Did they figure out already where that heat is sinking? And where does the cool water that is replaced come to the surface? Both sites would make a nice touristic attraction, with AGW cruises for concerned warmists, so that they can see climate change happening. The next scam is born.
well then that settles it….
.. we have nothing to worry about up here
and we need to send PETA and GreenPiece to the bottom of the ocean
And no one thought to ask those addled idiots at the Met Office why the oceans weren’t acting as a heat sink before this so-called “pause” ???
The presstitutes don’t have a single functioning brain cell between them??
So, why weren’t the oceans absorbing the “heat” 20 years ago?
nono….it was one of the famous tipping points
after a 1/2 degree…the entire ocean tipped over
you know…..like Guam
Ah, well thank you for clearing that one up.
So, the cold bottom-side up oceans might just cool things a mite. And it’s the best explanation the Met Office could gin-up without admitting to fiddling the raw data.
And why didn’t the models predict it?
Wait until they discover the even bigger heat sink called space.
Heh. Awesome.

Via Real Science:
Global warming theory requires that the mid-troposphere warms the fastest, but CO2 has changed tack. It now drives climate change rather than global warming – which is caused by missing heat that sank to the bottom of the ocean undetected.
The missing heat at the bottom of the ocean is a particularly mysterious substance, because it transacts directly with the atmosphere through the ethers to cause extreme weather at the surface.
In Dr. Trenberth’s next lesson, he will explain how we convert lead to gold, and how we identify witches.
Last week we were told that the heat in the oceans was killing out reefs. But Argo tells us that there is no unusual heat-up taking place in the upper oceans.
Now we are told the heat is hiding in the lower depths of the ocean. How did it get there? Heat doesn’t sink, there are no currents to the lower parts of the ocean and if you want to tell me that it has moved down due to conduction; first show me the calculations on how many centuries that would take.
And when and how did it sneak past our Argo buoy system?
This whole “it’s hiding in the ocean” is a bunch of poo. If the oceans are hiding as much heat as is claimed, the expansion would be around 8″. The oceans didn’t start hiding heat until 15 years ago. That works out to about 13 mm/yr.
Someone is FOS.
There are currents that move upper ocean water to the depths, and, in theory they could we warmer then in the past. http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=TC79-7Ss-Kv80M&tbnid=mlWaKNPQiU9b4M:&ved=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crd.bc.ca%2Fwatersheds%2Fprotection%2Fgeology-processes%2Fglobaloceancurrents.htm&ei=ax3uUa2SM4e_igKi14C4Dw&psig=AFQjCNF3r2tr1mqnqxbZpIliX88eU1JQzw&ust=1374645995882995
However there is no evidence that this is taking place, (Indeed, to hide a failed thoery, then make up an explanation beyond current capacity to prove, or disprove) and if it is taking place, then the oceans can handle this for centuries, with very little atmospheric warming resulting.
These guys’ excuses would make ghost hunters blush! Spooky heat lurking in the depths. 😆
Sounds like an episode from Scooby Doo.
