On Sunday, a dry ice device exploded inside an employee bathroom at LAX’s Terminal 2. No injuries were reported in that incident.
In both instances, the bombs were left in an area of the airport that require special clearance for access.
“At least they found unexploded ones,” passenger Bing Smith said. “I don’t know frankly what to think about somebody getting to limited access areas that require a badge.”
Authorities said there was no indication that either incident was part of a terrorist act.

Planting a bomb in California is not terrorism, but supporting fiscal responsibility or owning a rifle is considered terrorism.

another reason to outlaw evil CO2
Pilots have been recently reporting ‘dry runs’ on flights, this is how terrorists research safety and reactionary measures. These ‘bombs’ could be more of the same. Terrorists first case a target, then dry run it, and lastly attack. They could be studying the deployment of first responders and movement of civilians for secondary blasts.
Putting a dry ice “bomb” in an airport is so incredibly stupid it probably deserves some kind of punishment. However equating dry ice “bombs” with real bombs is pretty stupid as well. Kids whonow blow up a 2 liter pop bottle in an empty lot using dry ice are being treated like terrorists instead of like the kids they are. But don’tcha feel safer?
Sane people say it was not a “bomb.” It was a plastic soda bottle with some dry ice. It does not “explode” it ruptures from over pressure. Using language that lies to the public by grossly exaggerating the situation is another reason that TSA has no credibility with any rational person.
I’ve got to throw a flag Bob Knows. Bob, what is an explosion if not a “rupture from overpressure”? I agree however that rational people should not find credibility in the TSA.
Planting Dry Ice Bombs in Airports is clearly not Terrorism. Planting Dry Ice Bombs in Airports is an attempt to instill calm and confidence.
Pretty easy to see how that would be used. Sounds scary as hell.
