Latest From The Unaffordable Tax Hike Tyranny Act

“I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 “Silver Plan” and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I “opt-out” and chose to continue along with no insurance.

I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the “REPERCUSSIONS PORTION” for “non-payment” of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with “Non-Payment” and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy “Automatically withdraw” your “penalties” weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is “Free” or even “Affordable.”

He’s out of pocket $20k before collecting a dime from Obominationcare?? (6k premiums for the year and a 14k deductible???) On an income of 45-55k??

Give the shutdown a week for news of these “affordable” premiums to circulate and poll numbers on Obomantioncare ought to match the Congressional approval ratings….

I expect to see a lot more stories just like this.

  3. Avery Harden says:

That was the full unsubsidized cost, no more than what insurance cost today, You would qualify for a subsidy, like what we typically get from our employer. As far as the penaly side of what you quoted, I think you just made that up.

    • I hope you aren’t as dense as you pretend to be.

      • EW3 says:

        That would be difficult.

      • Avery Harden says:

I misspoke regarding the deductible and penalty. I want to study that some before I speak on that again. If what you say is true, it will all fall upon its own weight and you all would have wasted your political capital shutting down government over it.

        • I m not in government

        • Curt says:

AVery – I think the Republicans want even the lowest-information voters to be fully aware of who’s for this and whose against this. That said, I’m surprised at these numbers. I doubt the guy is lying, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the software is screwing up badly. Regardless, if the Republicans can get across the point that the only reason there is no agreement is that the Democrats refuse to delay the requirement and penalty for a year while the kinks are worked out, it’s a big political win for them.

    • Shazaam says:

Well you could dive into the massive document defining the Obomanationcare “law” and see if those numbers match.

I haven’t ever encountered private insurance carriers demanding a $14,000 deductable. i.e. he has to spend $14,000 out-of-pocket before collecting a dime of “insurance” after spending $6,000 a year on premiums.

      Subsidies, guess who pays that???

Your employer-paid “subsidy” is simply the amount you would have been paid otherwise. i.e. if your salary were 50k and your employer paid 12k in annual premiums, then your actual salary before “subsidies” was 65.5+k (adding in the 7% social security too). So your actual annual salary represents a much more generous amount, less those “subsidies” paid by your employer….

There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

And after Obamacare blows an even bigger hole in the federal budget, they will grab our IRAs.

  5. Mike D says:

That fine is the wrong amount for 2014 given this guy’s income by almost a factor of 10, though it would not be surprising if the website were kicking out incorrect or misleading information.

What I do not understand is how the IRS is going to ignore the fines. Even if they can’t use liens or anything to collect the fine, I would bet they can do so for the penalties and interest that will accrue on that fine. Then the second year, I’m pretty sure they will apply the taxes paid to the fine balance first, then for any balance due, it will be income taxes that are due, and then they can use whatever methods they can to collect it.

I can’t wait for the Pumpkin Spice Latte iTunes-junkie 20-something adolescent jungle fever crowd figure this out,

  7. squid2112 says:

Well now, if you are having an issue with Obamacare, there is an easy fix, just call 1-800-FUCKYO (actuallly 1-800-318-2596), but the number 1 has no letter, the rest spells it all out. This could not have been by mistake.

Need health care coverage? Just dial 1-800-FUCKYO to reach Obamacare’s national hotline

  8. squid2112 says:

When numbers are hard, just make them up (much like the climate clowns)

California: So, Obamacare exchange traffic wasn’t actually 5 million; it was 700K

  9. jeremyp99 says:

Link to the story so I can chuck it at my Dem friends in the US, please Steve

  10. Avery Harden says:

The premise behind the ACA is sound economics. Take the existing pot of money the US spends on healthcare, which is more than double other developed countries, and direct that money in a more cost effective manner. Trim some of the profits from the insurance companies, make the free loaders pay something, stop unnecessary care, do tort reform to reduce malpractice cost and yes raise some taxes on parts of the system. The Tea Party obsession that someone might get something for nothing is wrong headed. If done right, the new system won’t cost the general taxpayer any new money and may actually bend the health care cost curve down. The outrageous numbers being thrown around above clearly must be wrong.

      And communism works, in theory.

    • Latitude says:

I see AVery is on a mission to make Steve’s blog #1

    • Gamecock says:

Avery spouts the talking points, which have no connection to the actual legislation. It’s all wonderful! but all a fantasy.

      • Avery Harden says:

Medicare and Social Security of which you all participate or will participate is managed with less overhead than the medical insurance industry. They certainly need to have their finances fixed and Democrats are on board for doing so by reducing benefits and….raising “revenues”. I know you all are against taxes but seems the economy would be quite happy if the Democrats and Republicans did the “grand bargain.” Truth is, the economy is apolitical. It just wants the squabbling over to get back to business.
